Today's post is about an early dinner visit to Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch (규엔당 아브뉴프랑 광교점) in Gwanggyo haha.

Where is Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch?
This place gets recommended a lot when people search for a Japanese restaurant near Gwanggyo Jungang Station. It's on the first floor of the Attijone building! It sits right along the street, so keep that in mind.

First customer at 5:45pm: inside Gyuen-dang and its seating
We arrived a little before 6pm, around 5:45pm, and we were the very first dinner customers!

The interior was clean and tidy, exactly what you'd expect from a Japanese restaurant. Being early, it was quiet and calm, so it was easy to chat :) There are family-friendly tables and also separate seats for people dining solo.

There's a window-side dotchi (solo) seat, so eating alone here doesn't feel awkward at all. While we were eating, another solo diner came in too.

Menu ordered at Gyuen-dang and prices
Once we settled in, we ordered three things: sirloin gyukatsu (₩19,000), tenderloin gyukatsu (₩24,000), and hamburger omurice (₩17,000).

For anyone trying this for the first time, here's a guide for how to eat it!

What comes with the tenderloin and sirloin gyukatsu set
The full tenderloin/sirloin gyukatsu spread! One bite in and I was already hooked — tender and juicy. It's clearly a cut above the other Japanese restaurants near Gwanggyo Jungang Station. As soon as we sat down, they lit the charcoal for us right away, no waiting around.

The cabbage salad that came with it had a genuinely delicious sauce, and the pickles were the real MVP right when things started feeling rich — they reset your palate completely. They also give you salted Isigny butter, so if you're a butter person, grill some in with the meat :)

One brazier per person: how many seconds to grill gyukatsu
The gyukatsu comes as a DIY setup, one charcoal brazier per person, and the trick is to just sear the outside lightly, 10–20 seconds each side haha (I cooked mine a bit more than that). The marbling on the meat was so vivid it looked juicy just to look at.

Three sauces and how the two beef cuts compare
You get three sauces — wasabi, salt, and tonkatsu sauce — and wasabi was my favorite by far. The outside was lightly crisp and the inside stayed moist, a nice textural contrast. It wasn't too greasy and went down clean. Both the sirloin and tenderloin had zero gamey taste, just clean flavor all the way through~!

How was the hamburger omurice at Gyuen-dang?
We also ordered the hamburger omurice — a hamburg steak hides underneath the egg, so you can scoop egg, hamburg steak, and rice all in one bite haha.

The moment the egg splits open is really striking visually.

Looks delicious, right? The egg is so soft and moist.

Getting there, D24 parking, hours and reservations
It's just a 5-minute walk from Gwanggyo Jungang Station Exit 3, so this Japanese restaurant near Gwanggyo Jungang Station is easy to reach by public transit. Avenue France also offers 4 hours of free parking in zone D24 on basement level 2, so driving there is fine too.
- Open daily 11:30–22:00
- Break time 15:00–17:00 (no break on weekends)
- Last order 21:00
- Naver reservations are also available~
You can book ahead through Naver reservations, and on-site waiting runs through the CatchTable kiosk. We had reserved ahead, so we were seated right away — much more convenient.

Since a lot of people seem to be searching for a Japanese restaurant near Gwanggyo Jungang Station for dinner, weekends apparently get a fair amount of waiting, so I'd recommend going early like we did, or reserving ahead!

Final verdict on Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo
Overall, I loved both the quality of the meat and the calm Japanese-restaurant atmosphere, so next time I'll probably order an extra tenderloin gyukatsu on top. It's great for a date and also a place you could happily bring the whole family to — recommended!
