Steak and wine with your dog at Kueodeukkutteu, a Suwon restaurant
In short
Kueodeukkutteu is a red-brick Western restaurant on Sinpung-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, with an outdoor terrace where dogs are welcome. The writer sat on the terrace with her dog over pistachio lemon butter pasta, French toast, Kueodeukkutteu steak with sweet potato fries, perilla oil ice cream and red wine. She came for the atmosphere but the steak's doneness and juiciness sealed it, making Kueodeukkutteu an easy pick for a Haenggung-dong date or family outing.

A review of Kueodeukkutteu, quite possibly the prettiest dog-friendly restaurant in Haenggung-dong!
Kueodeukkutteu location, hours and parking in Suwon
Kueodeukkutteu sits at 54 Sinpung-ro, 1F & 2F, Paldal-gu, Suwon, and is open daily from 11:30 to 20:30. No regular closing days.
🚘 Parking — there's no dedicated lot for the restaurant. (If you're visiting Haenggung-dong, I'd recommend the nearby Jangan-dong public parking lot or the Seongyeong Library parking lot!)

I spotted the red-brick building of Kueodeukkutteu while wandering around Haenggung-dong! We didn't drive, but a public parking lot right next to the place looked convenient. (Though honestly, don't bring a car to Haenggung-dong on weekends.)

Where can you eat with your dog in Haenggung-dong?
Since I was planning to bring Bitna (our dog) along, I looked into dog-friendly restaurants in Haenggung-dong, and Kueodeukkutteu came up. There are plenty of dog-friendly cafés in the area, but surprisingly few restaurants, so I was thrilled to find such a pretty spot!!

We went around 4pm, an off hour for meals, so there were plenty of open seats, but when we walked by again in the evening the place was nearly full.

What the outdoor terrace and seating are like
Since we brought our dog along, we sat on Kueodeukkutteu's outdoor terrace, and with the cooler weather it felt like an elegant yajang (outdoor night drinking spot) — I was in such a good mood!

Even if you sit indoors, the folding doors give it quite an open feel, I imagine.

If you bring a dog, they'll have you sign a waiver confirming vaccinations.

Dog on the terrace, wine in hand — my grin just wouldn't stop, haha. Looked like there were two or three other tables with dogs besides us.

Gotta squeeze in a shot of my dog's good looks too. Isn't she just too cute? The terrace tables were spaced out well, so thankfully Bitna sat through the whole meal without a single bark. The terrace is spacious enough to bring a dog stroller comfortably too — I was a little envious seeing the two chihuahuas at the next table arrive in one.

Pistachio lemon butter pasta: how it tastes
First up was the pistachio lemon butter pasta. I went back and forth with the carrot duck aglio olio, but ended up craving the lemon butter pasta. Next time I'll definitely try the carrot duck aglio olio.

The visuals were insane, honestly. The pistachio flavor wasn't super pronounced, but the jambon was delicious!! My boyfriend had worried it might taste like tom yum goong since it was less sour than other lemon butter pastas he'd had before, but he said it was more enjoyable than expected.

French toast with red wine
Next came the French toast. It looked delicious at first glance — exactly what I'd been craving after singing the praises of Haenggung-dong French toast for a while.

Since it was an anniversary and we hadn't driven, we ordered red wine to go with it~ The lemon butter pasta's tang and the French toast's sweetness worked together like a perfect sweet-and-salty pairing. A glass of red wine made the whole mood complete!

The cross-section, oozing with vanilla egg batter... next time I want to come back as a café visit and order the French toast with a drink.

Kueodeukkutteu steak with sweet potato fries
The last of the mains was the Kueodeukkutteu steak with sweet potato fries.

Honestly, we came for the atmosphere more than the food, so I didn't expect much from the steak — but the doneness was just right, no tough bits, and it was full of juice, so I really enjoyed it!! The sweet potato fries that came with it were also super tasty. My boyfriend said they were better than regular fries.

Perilla oil ice cream for dessert
For dessert we ordered the perilla oil ice cream, the perfect palate cleanser.

I'd had sesame oil ice cream with my boyfriend before, but this was much nuttier, with crunchy perilla seeds throughout — I inhaled it in no time.

Is Kueodeukkutteu worth it for a dog-friendly date in Haenggung-dong?
If you're looking for a place in Haenggung-dong that checks every box — pretty atmosphere, good food, and dog-friendly seating — I highly recommend Kueodeukkutteu. I'm planning to come back with Bitna once the weather is nice again! I'd strongly recommend it as a date course or a family outing spot in Haenggung-dong, Suwon!
