Today I'm bringing you the review of the single best bakery I've visited recently, hands down! The place was so packed with customers that if it had been just a little quieter, I would've wanted to photograph every corner and gush about it even more.

This bakery won the grand prize on SBS's Life's Grand Masters and was even named the #1 loaf of bread in all of Korea, so I went in with high expectations — and after tasting it myself, I understood 200% why it gets so much praise. It's THE bread pilgrimage spot in Bucheon, the sikppang mecca everyone's been talking about. This is Chamsae Bori Sikppang, the bread bakery in Bucheon!

Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch is located at 183-1 Gyeongin-ro, Sosa-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, 1st floor. Hours are 10:00–20:00, but it can close early once the bread sells out, so I'd recommend an open run. Regular closed days are every Monday and Thursday.

I wanted to bring home warm bread, so I rushed over for an open run first thing in the morning! And oh my, the moment the doors opened the shop was already packed with customers, I was genuinely startled 😱 The loaves were flying off the shelves right in front of my eyes, so I waited a bit myself, then took home freshly baked bread once it had cooled and been sliced nicely.

While waiting inside, I noticed babies in strollers, elderly grandmas and grandpas — genuinely every age group was there. I could feel in real time that this is a Bucheon bread bakery loved by everyone, young and old.

With prices these days it's almost scary to buy bread, but Chamsae Bori Sikppang's prices are so reasonable that was my first shock — and the ingredients were amazing, which was my second shock!

It's made with healthy ingredients you can feed with confidence to elderly folks managing blood sugar or diabetes, as well as to young kids as a breakfast substitute. It's not for nothing that this place is famous as Bucheon's go-to bread for blood sugar management.

Daesang chewy barley loaf vs rye chewy barley loaf: what's the difference?

Daesang chapssal bori sikppang: The crumb is unbelievably soft and moist — soft enough to wobble when you hold it in your hand! It melts in your mouth and it's honestly amazing.

Rye chapssal bori sikppang: The more you chew, the more the nuttiness comes through — a fantastic chewy texture! It's about half the price of other healthy breads, so you get great value and a filling bite.

The moment my baby's favorite loaf changed

Honestly, my baby's favorite bread used to be the famous 'White Lie.' But after trying Chamsae Bori Sikppang, the ranking flipped right away 🏆 It instantly took the #1 spot in our house!

As soon as I brought it home I shared some with friends nearby, and the moment they took a bite, everyone said, 'Wow, this is genuinely the best sliced bread I've eaten in my life!' — I felt so proud, like I was the one being praised, for having gifted it 💕

Tasting the free madeleine and the mascarpone milk cream

Even while they were slammed with customers and rushed off their feet, the owner and staff greeted everyone so brightly and kindly that I felt great the whole visit 🥰

Especially when the owner spotted my baby, they immediately handed over a big madeleine as a free gift! It was genuinely huge and pillowy soft, and my baby ate it up happily. I was so touched by the owner's warm heart ㅠㅠ

And near the register there was a tasting station with bread spread with mascarpone milk cream, so I tried a bite... and the second I tasted it, I put it straight in my basket without a second thought 🤤 It's not the least bit greasy, not overly sweet, and has this deep, real, pure milk flavor bursting through — so soft and delicious! Spread on the bread, it tastes like heaven ㅠㅠ

The crowned sparrow stamp card and goods worth collecting

When you buy bread at Chamsae Bori Sikppang, they give you a stamp card — collect 10 stamps and you can trade it in for a free loaf! You can also exchange stamps for various cute goods available in the shop.

Looking closely at the stamp card character, I noticed one sparrow wearing a cute crown instead of a baker's cap 👑 It was so adorable I almost wanted to keep the card unused, just to hold onto it!

Final verdict and how to store the loaves

I bought a lot at once, so I portioned it into zip bags and froze it! Every morning I warm it slightly in the microwave or air fryer and eat it with my baby. It stays soft like it was just baked, and best of all, it's really gentle on the stomach even in the morning — I'm fully satisfied.
