Halal restaurant with kids in Sangam, Seoul: Zilhal Bros Sangam

I was in the mood for something a bit different in Sangam-dong, so today I'm sharing my visit to Zilhal Bros Sangam! There are so many workers around Sangam DMC, and with them, tons of different restaurants. I kept eating the usual Korean food, burgers, or sandwiches, so I went looking for something different but still filling — and that's how I found Zilhal Bros. It's a place serving New York street food-style burritos and kebabs, so I wanted to try something a little outside my usual routine :)

Zilhal Bros Sangam sits near Sangam DMC, making it a solid option for the office workers around here grabbing lunch or dinner. It's easy to reach by public transit, and since there's a parking lot in the building's basement, it's convenient to visit by car too.

What is the restaurant like inside? CNN on the TV and a New York street food feel

The moment I walked into Zilhal Bros Sangam, what struck me was how clean everything was! Being a newly opened spot, both the exterior and interior were spotless, and the atmosphere felt less like a typical restaurant and more like stepping into an overseas street food shop. The TV inside was even playing CNN haha — eating a burrito and kebab while watching it really did make me feel, for a moment, like I'd wandered into some little eatery in New York. There were cute figurines and props scattered around too, so it was fun to look around while waiting.

At first I thought the name 'Zilhal Bros' was pretty unique. Turns out JILHAL BROS is a brand inspired by the halal food beloved on New York's streets.

What we ordered at Zilhal Bros Sangam with the kids

We visited with our kids, and since the rice or burrito might've been too spicy for them, we ordered combo rice for me and my spouse, and chicken tender and fries for the kids!! :-)

Zilhal Bros combo rice: is it too spiced for kids?

Zilhal Bros is famous for its burritos and kebabs, but I wanted something rice-based and filling for a proper meal, so I went with combo rice haha. When it finally arrived, the portion was more generous than I expected, which I loved. Meat and vegetables were piled generously over the rice, topped with sauce — it looked delicious from the first glance. Mixing all the different ingredients together for one bite was especially tasty!

Rice and meat alone might feel a bit plain, but with the vegetables and sauce mixed in, all the flavors came together nicely, and the meat was generous enough to feel really filling. Most of all, the spices were much milder than I'd worried they'd be. When you try foreign food or halal food for the first time, the distinct aroma can make you wonder if it'll suit your taste, but Zilhal Bros' combo rice turned out to be surprisingly easy to eat. With the sauce mixed in, the meat and rice blended smoothly, and I kept going back for more haha.

Handheld options like burritos or kebabs are great too, but if you're Korean and love rice, I'd recommend the combo rice as well! It felt like a proper full meal in one bowl, making it a solid choice for lunch or dinner.

Chicken tender and fries, the kids' order

And the chicken tender and fries we ordered alongside! It comes with chicken tenders and fries together, so it paired nicely with the combo rice. The crispy-fried chicken tenders were crunchy outside and tender inside, easy to eat without any worry, and I kept reaching for the fries one at a time too haha. Taking a bite of the crispy tender in between spoonfuls of combo rice actually changed up the texture nicely — the combination worked well.

Chicken tenders are a relatively familiar dish, so they seemed like a solid side to pick if you're unsure about spiced food or visiting with kids. The combo rice alone was already filling, but adding the chicken tender and fries made for a truly hearty meal!

If you want something a little different from your usual meal but don't want anything too unfamiliar, I'd recommend trying the combo rice plus chicken tender and fries combination at Zilhal Bros. It kept that easy street food feel while still being substantial enough for a full meal, and I left satisfied :)
