How to walk to Taco Dot from Mangwon Station Exit 2
I was craving Mexican food in Mangwon-dong, so I went to Taco Dot. I'd heard it was famous for Mexican food, so I headed over with high expectations.
It's close to Exit 2 of Mangwon Station, and I browsed the fruit shops along the way. As soon as I turned into the alley, I spotted the flashy neon sign — easy to find! No mistaking it, that's Taco Dot!!

I could already smell the taco-restaurant vibes haha

Inside Taco Dot: the room and the self-serve bar
The inside of Taco Dot felt cute and a little like being abroad. There's a self-serve bar too, so you can grab hot sauce, tissues, wet wipes, water and small plates yourself, easy and convenient.

What comes with the grilled meat fajita platter?
I was tempted by the chimichanga since I'd never seen it before, but that day I wanted to taste a bit of everything rather than stick to one dish, so I ordered the grilled meat fajita platter and added guacamole too! Guess I just love avocado haha.
The fajita platter comes with pork, jerk chicken, shrimp, carnitas, tortillas, and four types of sauce.

With so many ingredients on one plate, it looked wonderfully generous, and since you pick whatever you want and wrap it yourself into a tortilla, it was fun loading up on different meats as much as I liked.
I started with pork, coleslaw and guacamole. The crunch of the coleslaw went really well with the clean-tasting pork, and adding the guacamole brought in that soft, nutty avocado flavor!

Pork, jerk chicken, shrimp, carnitas: how the four meats compare
Each meat had its own flavor and texture. The pork was clean-tasting and easy to pair with sauce, the jerk chicken had a spice kick that clearly set it apart from the others, and the shrimp kept its plump texture even wrapped in a tortilla — really nice!

Carnitas was a menu item I'd never heard of before — it's a Mexican-style pork dish, slow-cooked until soft and tender enough to pull apart with the grain. Trying it, the texture really was different from regular grilled pork. It falls apart so softly, and wrapped in a tortilla with sauce, it was the best!!
As I ate, I naturally started mixing and matching ingredients. Some tortillas I kept simple with just meat and sauce; others I loaded with shrimp, guacamole and coleslaw together. Even with the same platter, the flavor and texture changed depending on what went in, and that was way more fun than eating the same combo the whole time.

Is the extra guacamole at Taco Dot worth it?
The guacamole was especially worth the extra order. Compared to just meat and tortilla, adding the avocado's smooth richness made the whole plate taste more rounded. Adding coleslaw on top brought back some crunch too, and it paired really well with the meats.

Being able to try several meats at once was another perk of this dish. Going through pork, jerk chicken, shrimp and carnitas one by one, it was fun comparing the differences between each, and even though I'd only ordered one menu item, it felt like I'd eaten several.

What to order at Taco Dot next time
Besides fajitas, Taco Dot has plenty of other Mexican dishes — tacos, enchiladas, taco rice and more. This time I went for the fajita, where you pick your own ingredients and wrap them yourself, so next time I'll pick something else to try haha.
If you're in Mangwon-dong craving tacos or Mexican food, and you want to taste a bunch of different ingredients at once, the grilled meat fajita platter is a solid choice. I added guacamole on top too, and being able to mix ingredients however I wanted meant I never got tired of it, all the way to the last bite!
