Since my other half loves bread, it's hard to just walk past a bakery that looks promising, even when we're just wandering the neighborhood.

This time we stopped by Easy White Bread Bucheon Sinjung-dong, a bakery in Sinjung-dong, Bucheon, to try their milk bread and brewed coffee together.

What bread and prices are on the sidewalk sign?
Before stepping into this Sinjung-dong café favorite, the hand-written bakery and drinks menu sandwich board out front catches your eye first. Golden Beurre milk bread is ₩6,000 for a half and ₩11,000 for a whole, and several other breads are listed too, like walnut cranberry rye, soboro, chestnut rice cake, and olive cheese.
Coffee comes in a nutty version or a more acidic one, and you can get it HOT or ICE. Being able to check the bread types and prices before going in made it easy to think over what to order.

Easy White Bread Bucheon Sinjung-dong: storefront and inside the shop
The storefront looks clean but warm. There's a bench and some potted plants on the terrace outside, which looked like a nice place to rest for a bit. Through the glass, you can see bread and gift boxes on display, and a poster for French-butter milk bread by the entrance built up some anticipation before we even walked in.

A large photo of the baker hangs on the wall of this bakery near Sinjung-dong Station. Seeing it, I got the sense that a lot of care goes into making even a single loaf. There's an explanation about using French butter along with details about the milk bread, which made me curious how it would actually taste.

Stepping inside, the space feels clean and modern. The Easy White Bread logo stands out against the exposed-concrete-style wall. There's a cushioned bench sofa along the wall paired with a wooden table, making it a comfortable spot to relax with bread and coffee.

On one side of the store, a nameplate for master baker Kim Hyun-tae and a notice about using French AOP butter catch the eye. There's also a notice announcing the launch of walnut cranberry rye milk bread and deep chocolate milk bread.

How does Easy White Bread say to store fresh milk bread?
Easy White Bread has signage explaining how to best enjoy and store the milk bread. It says the best way is to eat it the day you buy it, and if any is left, slice it, seal it, and freeze it. There was also information about gift sets and a review event.

Tasting the bread samples first
On one side of the store, tasting bread was set out so you could sample several kinds of milk bread. Cut into bite-sized pieces in a wooden bowl, everything from the Golden Beurre milk bread to breads with mix-ins like olive cheese was available to try a little of each.
Being able to taste before choosing seems like a solid approach for someone like me who tends to agonize over which bread to buy.

Menu prices and which slice thickness to choose
Looking at the menu, the signature Golden Beurre milk bread is ₩6,000 for a Half and ₩11,000 for a Whole. You can also choose the slicing thickness — 1.5cm, 2.0cm, or 2.5cm, whichever you prefer.
Beyond that, there are several other milk breads like olive cheese, soboro rice cake, and walnut cranberry rye, plus brewed coffee, lattes, ade, and tea. They also sell handmade jam, butter, and cream cheese, which would go nicely with the bread.

On the display shelf, golden-baked milk breads sit lined up neatly. Seeing the whole loaves on display really gives off that fresh-baked, appetizing look. There are also samples on one side comparing 1.5cm, 2.0cm, and 2.5cm thicknesses, which made it easy to choose the thickness I wanted. Fruit milk cream sando and handmade jam were also displayed nearby, fun to browse.

Golden Beurre milk bread cut to 2.0cm
Once you buy the milk bread, they cut it to your preferred thickness using a dedicated bread slicer. 1.5cm is good for sandwiches, 2.0cm is best for enjoying the milk bread's original flavor, and 2.5cm is meant for toast.
We asked for a 2.0cm cut. Sliced evenly and cleanly, it seemed convenient to take home and eat right away.

Where the brewed coffee is poured
Toward the back of the store, there's a separate space set up for preparing brewed coffee. Automatic coffee brewing equipment, a bean grinder, and a hot water heater are all lined up neatly. While ordering coffee, I naturally got a look at what equipment they use.
Even though this is a bakery, the coffee isn't an afterthought — you can choose your beans, so coffee lovers can pick according to their taste. We also ordered coffee to drink alongside our bread that day, and since it's brewed fresh in-store, we decided to try it together with the bread.

Mochoberry and Brown Velvet, sipped side by side
Our brewed coffee order came out. Served in takeout cups, it looked clean and was easy to carry. We ordered the special brewed coffee Mochoberry and the brewed coffee Brown Velvet.
Apparently, even the same style of coffee tastes different depending on the beans, so alternating between the two was fun. Sipping the coffee between bites of bread gave a different feel than eating the bread alone.

Opening the packed loaf at home: the crumb up close
We grabbed our milk bread and coffee and headed out. The shopping bag has a clean Easy White Bread logo on it. Having come just to buy some bread and ending up ordering coffee too, both hands were pretty full.
Thinking about eating this at home with my other half put me in a good mood. Some of the milk bread we'd eat right away, but the rest could be stored properly for later, so we didn't need to finish it all in one go.

Once home, we unwrapped the bread. We'd asked for a 2.0cm cut at the store, and it was sliced evenly, looking neat. Not too thin or too thick, it seemed good either eaten plain or lightly toasted.
The packaging was tidy too, so the shape of the bread stayed intact the whole way home. Now I'm going to make a warm cup of coffee and enjoy the milk bread with my other half. I'm curious how the taste will differ between the tasting sample at the store and eating it slowly at home.
