In short

Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch is a Korean duck restaurant in Okgil-dong, Sosa-gu, Bucheon, where one full course runs from cedar-box steamed duck to spicy duck dori-tang stew and fried rice. The signature Keunsawi Top Table set arrived in order: a perilla-seed chicken taster, self-serve gondre mushroom rice with mother-in-law's fresh kimchi, cedar-box steamed duck, duck dori-tang, then tricolor fried rice to finish. Looking for a healthy boyangsik (nourishing) meal for a family gathering or dinner out, I went looking for duck🦆 and ended up at Keunsawi Ori Jip, where you can enjoy a full course from cedar-steamed duck to stew.

Keunsawi Ori Jip has a spacious parking lot right out front, so no worries there. The entrance is on the right side of the building, so you walk around to get in.

What is the restaurant like inside? High ceilings, full-height windows and a tiled-roof look

I liked that the interior of Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch has high ceilings and full glass windows. The tiled-roof design element gave it a touch of class, and the tables were nicely spaced, so it looked great for bringing along parents or visiting in a group.

Ordering the Keunsawi Top Table set: tablet ordering and current events

Ordering is done comfortably at your own pace via tablet, and the menu ranged from single-serving dishes to full sets. We went with Keunsawi Ori Jip's signature Keunsawi Top Table set, which lets you sample a variety of duck dishes at once.

🎯They're also running a fun roulette event and a Naver receipt review event (with sesame oil from a local oil mill as the prize) — worth checking out!

Table setting and self-serve bar: omega-3, gondre rice and mother-in-law's fresh kimchi

The basic side dishes and vegetables for the stew were set out, and a golden omega-3 supplement was placed on a plate for each person — an unexpectedly touching detail😮

And the self-serve bar went beyond simple side dish refills — you could help yourself to as much fragrant gondre rice and mother-in-law's fresh kimchi as you wanted.

👶🏻Especially for children under 8, duck seaweed soup and cute kids' tableware were fully prepared — a flawless detail for a Bucheon Korean-set-meal restaurant that's perfect for family meals with young children.

That sesame oil was seriously delicious too — I nearly filled up on gondre rice before even getting to the duck,,

All the duck, chicken, rice, cabbage, and other ingredients are domestic, except for some of the chili powder.

How the course runs: 9 minutes for the cedar-box steamed duck, dori-tang underneath

The first dish of the Top Table set to arrive was the cedar-box steamed duck. Underneath the steamer box was the duck dori-tang stew. The steaming takes about 9 minutes, so we went to the self-serve bar to grab gondre rice, kimchi, and sauces in the meantime.

Sauces and kimchi to pair with the cedar-steamed duck

The gondre mushroom rice and kimchi were good enough to make me almost order a second bowl of rice. I already love gondre (dried aster) rice enough to make it at home, and this version was fragrant and nutty, exactly my taste — and the kimchi looked delicious just by its color, a real rice thief.

The perilla-seed chicken taster

While waiting for the steamer, a duck perilla chicken starter arrived — thick and nutty, a nice way to comfortably settle an empty stomach. The broth tasted a bit like a certain famous ginseng chicken soup chain.

How the cedar-box steamed duck tastes, and the best ways to eat it

As we were eating, the timer went off and the lid was opened for us. The steamer box was piled generously with bean sprouts and duck meat.

All the fat had rendered out, leaving a very light, tender texture perfectly suited to a nourishing meal.

Duck meat dipped in peanut sauce and chili sauce

It also paired great with the peanut sauce, chili sauce, and fresh kimchi.

Duck wrap with perilla leaf, pickled radish, and garlic

I'd recommend wrapping it in perilla leaves with pickled radish and garlic!

Duck dori-tang stew and the tricolor fried rice finale

Once we finished, the steamer box was cleared and it was time for the duck dori-tang stew. They told us to reduce it slightly and add the vegetables before eating.

With sour kimchi mixed in, the duck dori-tang had a bit of a stir-fried pork feel and tasted somewhat like jeyuk bokkeum (spicy pork stir-fry).

Duck dori-tang stew with mushrooms, rice cake, and chives

With plenty of mushrooms, rice cake, chives, and duck meat, it had a different kind of spicy richness than the steamed version, and I loved it.

Tricolor fried rice cooked in the leftover stew sauce

I was full and thought about skipping the fried rice, but the seasoning was so good that we left about two ladles of broth and had them fry up the tricolor fried rice — I would have regretted skipping it,, Korea's true dessert is always another round of rice,, it had that addictive quality that keeps your spoon moving🦆

Why Keunsawi Ori Jip suits a family meal in Bucheon

From start to finish, every dish felt made with care, and it was a genuinely satisfying meal that made me feel properly looked after. If you're looking for a place with healthy flavors, a pleasant atmosphere, and attentive service all in one, I'd highly recommend Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch as a Bucheon Korean-set-meal restaurant for a family meal!🦆
