Saturday dinner kiosk order for perilla jjukkumi set: Jigueseo On

In short

Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is a jjukkumi (spicy webfoot octopus) restaurant on Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil in Hanam, Gyeonggi. Visiting on a Saturday evening, the writer ordered a perilla-oil jjukkumi set for two using the table kiosk, mixed the stir-fried octopus and perilla oil into hot pot rice, then finished with scorched rice, coffee and ice cream. The spice level was just right, and with a spacious parking lot and outdoor garden out front, it felt like a little outing rather than just a meal.

When you're craving spicy jjukkumi, Hanam's 'Jigueseo On Jjukkumi' is the spot

A Saturday evening, the kind of day when you crave something spicy. Today I headed to Hanam for jjukkumi. The place I visited was the Hanam branch of 'Jigueseo On Jjukkumi.'

Location and parking at Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch

  • Address: 5 Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do
  • Hours: Closed every Thursday, open daily 11:00–21:00 otherwise
  • Parking: Large lot in front of the restaurant

After parking in front of the restaurant, I went inside.

Entrance to the jjukkumi restaurant

A clean interior, unlike most jjukkumi restaurants. Several tables were already occupied with customers eating.

We picked this seat because the chairs looked comfortable — and sat down!

What's on the menu, and how do you order?

The menu at Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam. Each table orders through its own kiosk. There were jjukkumi sets, agujjim (braised monkfish), and cod dishes — and we chose the perilla-oil jjukkumi set for two!

The side dishes

A neatly arranged spread of banchan (side dishes) arrived.

Japchae and salad side dishes
Jellyfish salad and salted pollack roe side dishes

Japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) and salad. Jellyfish salad and kimchi. Plus salted pollack roe and seaweed soup. Of these, the sweet-and-tangy jellyfish salad suited my taste best, and the pollack roe was nicely not too salty. The dressing on the salad was also delicious.

How to mix the perilla-oil jjukkumi set with hot pot rice

And finally, today's star — the jjukkumi — makes its entrance!

The rice comes as this nutritious hot pot rice. Steaming, glossy hot pot rice~

then pour on the perilla oil served in a cute little dish — and just like that, you get a spicy-sweet jjukkumi bibimbap so good you'd fight over the last bite!

Spice level and jjukkumi texture

Mixed it up well and took a bite — the jjukkumi was so soft and tender, really easy to eat. At first I couldn't tell if it was spicy, but as you keep eating, a pleasant heat builds up. Not too spicy, not too mild — just the right, satisfying kind of spicy.

Once you finish the jjukkumi bibimbap, you can't skip the scorched rice (nurungji) at the bottom of the pot either.

Second-floor seating and the receipt review perk

On my way to the restroom, I noticed stairs leading up to the second floor by the restroom door. It looked like there was dining space up there too.

This place's generous receipt review perk! They actually give you Hangang ramyeon! Haha, but we were so stuffed from the jjukkumi set that day we couldn't manage the ramyeon.

On the way out, I spotted this space decorated with perilla seeds (?). I guess this is where the perilla oil that came with our jjukkumi set comes from.

Dessert coffee and ice cream

By the exit, there's a coffee machine, and just out of frame to the left was an ice cream freezer.

After eating something spicy, finishing off with a cup of coffee and a scoop of ice cream is the perfect way to end the meal!

The dolls decorating the exit were so cute I had to snap a photo!

Outdoor garden space and parking

By the time we finished dinner, the sun had already set. Out front, there's a small garden-like space with plenty of tables — I thought it would be lovely to have coffee out here.

Spacious parking area in front of the restaurant

There's a spacious parking lot right out front, so there's zero worry about parking if you drive. We came here casually just craving jjukkumi, but it ended up feeling like a little trip out of the city. This place, Hanam's 'Jigueseo On Jjukkumi,' is a friendly, feel-good restaurant I'd recommend to anyone looking for a satisfying, spicy meal.
