In short
Naengmyeon Gajun Dongtan Main Branch is a cold noodle and Korean meat restaurant on the 2nd floor of Luna Gallery, right beside Dongtan Lake Park in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. After a walk around the lake, three people shared galbitang, kudzu-noodle mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) and a mul naengmyeon plus gochujang pork belly set, with a self-serve bar for radish salad and kkakdugi, floor-to-ceiling lake-view seats and basement parking in the building. I was really craving cool naengmyeon (cold noodles) in Dongtan, so I headed to Naengmyeon Gajun Dongtan Main Branch, a well-known spot near Dongtan Lake Park. You know those days when you take a walk around Dongtan Lake Park and just want something cool and clean to eat afterward? This is the perfect place for exactly that. It's on the 2nd floor of Luna Gallery, and true to its name, you can feel its confidence — it's out to raise the bar ("gajun" means "standard") for naengmyeon.

Where do you park at Luna Gallery?
You can use the basement parking at the Luna Gallery building. Parking is usually the biggest worry for people visiting restaurants around Dongtan Lake Park, but with dedicated basement parking in the building, it's easy. The lake park area gets crowded with visitors on weekends and parking can be tough, so having in-building parking is a real convenience.

Lake-view window seats and the mood inside Naengmyeon Gajun
Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor, and the first thing you see is the wide-open view of the lake park through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

On sunny days you can see sunlight sparkling on the lake, and on cooler days the trees and walking paths come into full view — it's a space where just sitting there puts you in a good mood. Not many restaurants near Dongtan Lake Park have a view like this, so that alone is reason enough to visit.

The interior is clean and tidy. With no unnecessary decoration, the tables and seats are arranged simply, which makes it easy to focus on the meal.

What's on the self-serve banchan bar?
There's a self-serve bar where you can help yourself to basic banchan (side dishes) — things like julienned radish and diced radish kimchi that pair really well with naengmyeon.

It's convenient since you can take as much as you need. You can also pair naengmyeon dishes like kudzu naengmyeon, mul naengmyeon, or bibim naengmyeon with meat dishes like gochujang pork belly or braised beef short ribs as a set, which seems to be especially popular with families.
How was the galbitang (beef short rib soup)?
The galbitang (beef short rib soup) at Naengmyeon Gajun Dongtan Main Branch has a clear, transparent broth — one spoonful and you get that refreshing, savory feeling that just hits the spot.

The bone broth is cleanly simmered with no off-flavors, and there's plenty of rib meat, with the texture of meat falling right off the bone.
Eaten together with white rice, it comes together into a warm, home-cooked-style meal.

Kudzu-noodle mul naengmyeon: how chewy are the noodles?
The mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) here is known for its chewy kudzu noodles. One bite and you can feel the springiness of the noodles — that's the charm of kudzu noodles.

The broth is light and refreshing, not too strong, so it's perfect for enjoying something clean and cool.
You can add vinegar or mustard to adjust the taste to your liking.

Eating it alternately with the galbitang, the two went really well together.
Mul naengmyeon and gochujang pork belly set
This combo is a real gem. Alternating bites of naengmyeon with pork belly coated in sweet and spicy gochujang sauce, each one brings out the flavor of the other.

One bite of meat, one bite of naengmyeon — keep that going and before you know it, the bowls are empty.
Especially recommended for families where some people want naengmyeon and others want meat.

We ordered all three menu items to share, and it turned out more satisfying to order galbitang separately and pair the naengmyeon with the gochujang pork belly set, rather than everyone ordering their own dish.
The braised beef short ribs are apparently a popular menu item too, so I'm definitely adding that on my next visit.
Is Naengmyeon Gajun Dongtan worth a stop after the lake park?
If you're looking for a good restaurant near Dongtan Lake Park, I really recommend Naengmyeon Gajun Dongtan Main Branch. It's the perfect place to complete the routine of finishing a lake walk with a cool bowl of naengmyeon. The view is beautiful, the food exceeds expectations, and there's even basement parking — all the conditions for a good visit are here. Between the refreshing, deep galbitang broth, the chewy kudzu noodles, and the spicy gochujang pork belly set, there's nothing missing from this Dongtan Lake Park restaurant.
