Hwaseong Chinese restaurant couple's lunch: level 2 cockle jjamppong
In short
Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is a cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) specialty Chinese restaurant near Namgwangjang Square in Dongtan, Hwaseong. Visiting for lunch with her husband, the writer ordered level 2 spicy cockle jjamppong and a large jajangmyeon (black bean noodles), impressed by the smoky wok-fried broth and plump cockle meat made fresh to order. With spice levels from 1 to 4, it works equally well as a hangover cure or a relaxed couple's lunch.

A recommended hangover-cure restaurant in Namgwangjang, Dongtan, Hwaseong: 'Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch'

Hours, parking, and whether to drive
Open Monday through Sunday, 10:40 to 21:00, last order at 20:20. Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Namgwangjang Branch has both a public parking lot right in front and an underground lot, so it's easy to visit even if you drive. The public lot gives 90 minutes free, which was plenty of time for our meal.

We came for lunch. The restaurant has reserved seating set aside separately, and the space itself is clean and spacious, which I liked.

Smoky wok-fried jjamppong, made to order
Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong is a Dongtan jjamppong spot specializing in cockle jjamppong. What sets it apart from regular jjamppong is that it's wok-fried fresh the moment you order.

Instead of broth made ahead of time, it's fried right over the flame as soon as the order comes in, so you get real jjamppong broth with that smoky wok-hei flavor still alive. I think it's this deep, rich smoky broth that's earned the place its reputation as a hangover-cure spot in Dongtan.

Menu lineup and the review event
The menu includes cockle jjamppong, cold jjamppong, jajangmyeon, sweet and sour pork, and fried dumplings.

They're also running a Naver review event. They give you free dumplings or a drink, so it's worth joining while you eat.

Level 2 cockle jjamppong: how spicy is it?
Cockle jjamppong is ₩11,000, and the large jajangmyeon is ₩9,000. This time I ordered the level 2 cockle jjamppong. The spice runs from level 1 to level 4, and for my taste level 2 was that sharp, pleasantly spicy sweet spot. For first-timers, I'd recommend starting at level 1 or level 2.
The moment the cockle jjamppong arrived, it looked different from the start. A deep, rich-colored broth piled high with cockles — the phrase 'looks delicious' fits perfectly.

The moment I took a sip of the broth, that deep, rich flavor with the smoky wok-hei alive in it filled my mouth, and I thought, this is genuinely delicious. If you ask me what makes a good jjamppong place, I can confidently say it's this broth. Sharp yet refreshing going down — I was almost sad to finish the whole bowl.
The plump, springy cockle meat bursts with ocean flavor the moment you bite in, blending with the jjamppong broth in a way that's genuinely addictive. There were more cockles than I expected, which made this cockle lover very happy.

My husband's large jajangmyeon
My husband ordered the large jajangmyeon. Since the jajangmyeon is also fried to order, the noodles came richly coated in black bean sauce.

The sweet, deep flavor of the black bean paste was vivid, and the noodles were cooked perfectly springy. Since it was the large size, the portion was generous too, making for a filling meal.

Why it's also a great hangover-cure spot in Dongtan
I'd recommend this as a hangover-cure restaurant in Dongtan too. The day after drinking, a bowl of spicy cockle jjamppong really does feel like it clears everything out. For anyone looking for a good jjamppong place, Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong is a strong recommendation.

It's satisfying whether you go for lunch or dinner, so it's good to visit any time of day, and it's a comfortable spot for family meals out or a work lunch too. Group reservations and takeout are both available, so it can be used in lots of different ways.

I come here often, and the fact that the quality stays consistent every single time is exactly what turns you into a regular. Among Dongtan's jjamppong restaurants, this place has firmly carved out its own identity with the distinctive cockle jjamppong menu.
