Today I had a family dinner at Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi Geomdan Main Branch, a restaurant specializing in aged Jeju black pork, and enjoyed some really delicious pork belly and pork neck. I'd had my eye on this place for a while since I love pork belly, and thanks to my blogging I was able to get a discount when I visited. My whole family loved it and declared we're definitely coming back, so let me share this Incheon Wanjeong Station BBQ restaurant with you!

It's located at the end of the restaurant alley near Wanjeong Station in Incheon. We visited around 7pm on a Friday and, as you'd expect from a famous BBQ spot near Wanjeong Station, the place was packed with customers!

Restaurant packed with customers on a Friday evening

There's some parking at the restaurant but it's quite limited, so they recommended the nearby public parking lot. Since it's very close to Wanjeong Station on Incheon Line 2, I'd recommend taking public transit!

Black pork aging refrigerator at the entrance

As soon as you walk in, you notice the refrigerator where the meat is stored — it really gives off that specialty aged black pork restaurant vibe. Pork belly and pork neck were aging in there, packed full!

What's the atmosphere like inside?

Maybe because we came on a Friday evening, the inside of the restaurant was quite lively. The tables are set fairly close together too, so it felt less like a quiet conversation-over-dinner spot and more like a place to enjoy great meat, drinks, and good company all together.

Lively dining hall interior with closely spaced tables

If you'd prefer a calmer dining atmosphere, I'd recommend avoiding the busy hours!

Baby chair provided at the restaurant

They also have baby chairs ready, so it seems like a great spot for a family meal out.

The Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi menu

What is ddotgalbi? It's the Jeju dialect word for pork ribs (dwaeji-galbi).

Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi specializes in Jeju black pork. The menu only has two items — Jeju ddotgalbi and teukmoksal (special pork neck) — but after eating it, the meat itself was so delicious that the limited menu wasn't a letdown at all!

Menu board listing Jeju ddotgalbi and teukmoksal

We were at a center table so we looked at the menu and ordered directly with a staff member, but the wall-side tables can order via tablet, which looked much more convenient!

Table set with ordered raw Jeju ddotgalbi and teukmoksal

We first ordered 3 servings each of Jeju ddotgalbi and teukmoksal. We planned to reorder whichever was better, but both were so good that we ended up ordering 3 more servings of one and 2 more of the other!

Trying the teukmoksal and Jeju ddotgalbi pork belly

Hot charcoal brought to the table
Teukmoksal starting to grill over the charcoal

Once the hot charcoal arrived at the table, we started by grilling the teukmoksal first!

My first thought upon seeing the meat was, "Wow, that's really thick!!" I worried a cut this thick might be dry, but that worry vanished after the first bite.

Thick aged teukmoksal cooking through

Maybe because it's aged meat, the texture was chewy yet juicy with every bite — really delicious!

The staff at Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi grill the meat for you and cut it into bite-sized pieces,

so you get to eat the meat right when it's cooked to perfection — that made it even tastier, I think!

For the Jeju ddotgalbi pork belly, they neatly separated the rib bone from the meat and grilled it to a chewy, delicious finish, skin and all.

You eat pork belly for that skin, right?! It was so, so good!

Side dishes and sauces

Full spread of side dishes and sauces served with the meat

At a BBQ restaurant, the side dishes matter just as much as the meat! Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi serves a nice variety of sides and 4 different sauces to go with the meat!

White kimchi placed on the grill

The white kimchi is grilled together with the meat, and topped with a bit of wasabi it tasted even better than red kimchi!

Perilla oil garlic sauce, scallion salad, and myeongi-namul

The nutty perilla oil garlic sauce was also a treat, and the refreshing scallion salad and myeongi-namul (wild garlic leaves) were inseparable from the meat! My dad, who really loves scallion salad, praised this one in particular as especially delicious! After looking it up, apparently it's Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi's own signature scallion salad, developed after 150 days of research.

Crunchy pickled garlic scapes side dish

I tried pickled garlic scapes for the first time here at Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi — the crunchy texture and tangy pickling sauce paired so well with the juicy meat! They also brought lettuce wraps and grilling garlic whenever we asked, and the staff were genuinely kind throughout, which made the meal even more pleasant.

Side dishes: scorched rice hot pot and naengmyeon

Side menu board listing stews and naengmyeon

Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi also has stew and naengmyeon (cold noodle) menu items to enjoy alongside the meat. The seafood doenjang stew with abalone and shrimp, and the pork kimchi stew both looked delicious, but our family loves nurungji so much that we ordered the hot nurungji (scorched rice) hot pot instead! We're planning to try the stews next time!

Eating the warm, savory nurungji felt like it cut through the greasiness after all that meat.

Ordered water naengmyeon

Naengmyeon with meat is a must! We ordered one water naengmyeon and one bibim (spicy mixed) naengmyeon, and the noodles were chewy and delicious.

Spicy-tangy bibim naengmyeon

The spicy-tangy sauce made for a perfectly delicious bibim naengmyeon.
