Forest-view brunch café in Gwangju: La Cuesta platter & sausage roll
In short
La Cuesta Gwangju is a large bakery café in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, where floor-to-ceiling windows look out on a mountain ridge and trees. Brunch here was the La Cuesta Platter at 16,000 won, the rolled long sausage bread at 5,800 won and the signature La Cuesta Latte at 8,000 won, and the café also runs a free tasting corner for new menu items. The latte turns a little rich by the last sips, but La Cuesta Gwangju is worth another stop on a drive out of the city.

Today I went to La Cuesta, a large bakery café in Neungpyeong-dong, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, for a relaxing break while looking out at the lush green mountain view and trees through the window.
I'd seen reviews praising the spacious, comfortable interior, the abundant bakery selection, and the well-put-together brunch, so I visited feeling pretty excited.

What the forest view and interior look like

Walking into La Cuesta Gwangju, you're greeted by huge floor-to-ceiling windows that frame a grand mountain ridge and dense trees like a painting — it's such a visually refreshing sight.
High ceilings and a clean white-and-wood interior come together with tasteful mirror objects and a book display zone, giving the whole place a cozy feel.

Moving over to the bakery section, you'll find a colorful array of golden-baked breads displayed hygienically under covers.

And there's a free tasting corner for new menu items so customers can try things comfortably — it really shows the brand's generous spirit.

La Cuesta Platter, 16,000 won: what comes on it
The La Cuesta Platter I ordered came served on a round plate, generously set up with golden-baked grain bread, scrambled eggs, sausage, wedge potatoes, roasted broccoli and vegetables, and a fresh garden salad.

The nutty rye bread, still warm as if freshly baked, topped with scrambled egg and a slightly salty piece of sausage, makes for a light, familiar brunch bite everyone will like.

Rolled long sausage bread, 5,800 won
The rolled-up long sausage bread (₩5,800) we also tried wraps a chunky, juicy long sausage in chewy dough baked along the grain, finished with parsley and cheddar cheese flavor for a crisp-outside, moist-inside, salty taste. It's kind of like that pizza bread everyone knows — minus the cheese pull.

Signature La Cuesta Latte, 8,000 won
The signature drink, the La Cuesta Latte, has layered, nutty milk as the base topped with a soft, thick special cream foam — it's delicious. Just be careful, it can get a bit rich if you drink a lot of it!!

They also sell Chuseok gift sets! :)
The best combination to order together
Try topping the grain bread that comes with the La Cuesta Platter with the fresh, dressing-soaked garden salad and scrambled egg to enjoy it like an open sandwich.
Then take a sip of the rich, sweet La Cuesta Latte — the salad's freshness and the latte's sweet cream form a perfect layer of flavor.
Also, cut yourself a happy slice of the rolled-up long sausage bread and pair it with a nutty piece of bakery from the free tasting corner — you'll really get that sweet-and-salty magic.
Window seats and parking at La Cuesta Gwangju
The window seats with the best view, right in front of the big windows, are highly competitive, and I imagine the parking lot could fill up faster than expected on weekends or during peak hours.
Is La Cuesta Gwangju worth the drive?
The beautiful mountain view through the huge windows, the spacious and tidy atmosphere, and the satisfying brunch platter and bakery selection were all really nice. Little touches like the free new-menu tasting corner were impressive too, so I'd like to come back as a drive-stop spot in Gwangju, Gyeonggi.
