Garden café in Gwangju with a teddy bear photo zone: La Cuesta

In short

La Cuesta Gwangju is a two-story bakery garden café on Gyeongchung-daero in Gonjiam-eup, Gwangju, Gyeonggi. Floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor picnic garden, a giant teddy bear photo zone and a drawing corner for kids set the scene for a La Cuesta latte at 8,000 won, grapefruit ade, autumn night bread and scones. La Cuesta Gwangju is an easy stop with children after a day at Hwadam Botanic Garden or Gonjiam Resort.

Stuck on where to take the kids this weekend? I want to introduce a café in Gwangju, Gyeonggi where the kids can run around freely under giant sun-drenched windows outside the city, while mom and dad unwind with some standout desserts!

La Cuesta Gwangju hours, parking and the Hwadam Botanic Garden perk

La Cuesta Gwangju is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00 (no holidays, last order 21:30), and the brunch menu runs from 10:30 to 20:30. There's a huge parking lot for drivers with room for 100+ cars, so zero parking stress — and it can even fit large buses, so it's totally suited for group gatherings!

It's located near Nokgogae-gil close to Gonjiam, so a lot of people seem to swing by on a drive. It's also perfectly positioned for a stop after visiting Hwadam Botanic Garden or Gonjiam Resort nearby! If you're coming from Hwadam Botanic Garden, showing your ticket gets you a special menu benefit too, haha.

The moment we arrived, the sheer scale of the building blew us away.

What the second floor and the floor-to-ceiling window view look like

La Cuesta Gwangju has wide floor-to-ceiling windows on every side, so warm sunlight fills the whole space — the atmosphere was really lovely.

Spacious seating at La Cuesta spanning up to the 2nd floor

The interior stretches up to the 2nd floor and is enormous, so there was no cramped feeling at all. A lush green view unfolds outside, refreshing just to look at — very healing.

Picnic props and busking in La Cuesta's outdoor garden

La Cuesta also has a spacious outdoor garden! Checkered picnic mats, blankets, and cushions are already set up generously to give you that picnic mood, so you can come empty-handed and still have a perfect picnic, haha. They also hold busking performances periodically, so it's a total recommendation for a weekend outing.

What can kids do at La Cuesta? Drawing corner and teddy bear photo zone

La Cuesta Gwangju is packed with things for kids to enjoy everywhere you look. There were really so many families here, and there's a reason for it! On one side, there's a drawing contest going on, and it was so nice to see kids happily drawing away, haha. There's also a giant teddy bear photo zone and a photo booth machine for great pictures, plus a cookie-making set and drinks and other menu items prepared for kids too!

They offer samples in several spots, and I was impressed by how actively they collect feedback about the customer experience!

How the La Cuesta latte, grapefruit ade, autumn night bread and scones taste

We ordered the La Cuesta latte, grapefruit ade, autumn night bread, and scones.

The La Cuesta latte is the signature drink — a milk base topped with a generous, heavy-yet-soft layer of fresh cream, and the flavor was incredible!

The grapefruit ade, sweet-tart with a fizzy kick, was also amazing for topping up on sugar on a hot day. It's loaded with slightly bitter grapefruit, and honestly it was delicious.

Taking leftover bread home from the self-packaging corner

We bought a ton of bread and had leftovers, but there's a self-packaging corner on one side of La Cuesta! They thoughtfully stock plastic roll bags, bread bags, sanitary gloves, and wet wipes so you can pack everything up hygienically — no problem taking leftovers home, haha.

Since it's a bakery café, they also have a variety of gift sets worth browsing! La Cuesta is a Gwangju café where kids can run around freely in the spacious natural garden, and everyone can unwind over food and desserts under the warm sunlight streaming through the giant windows. It's a café kids especially love, so it's a great pick for a weekend drive to the outskirts! If you're looking for a nearby café after a visit to Hwadam Botanic Garden or Gonjiam Resort, give La Cuesta Gwangju a try!
