Gwanggyo kids' magic theater in Suwon: 50-minute show at Magic & Joy

In short

Mirinae Magic Theater Magic & Joy Gwanggyo is a children's magic show venue on the 10th floor of Galleria Department Store Gwanggyo in Suwon, Gyeonggi. The theater has only three rows of seats, so the stage was clearly visible even from the very back row, and my child got to touch a pigeon that appeared in one trick and practiced at home with the magic book handed out at the end. At about 50 minutes and built around audience participation, Magic & Joy Gwanggyo made for an easy weekend outing with a child.

While looking for somewhere to take my kid on the weekend, I came across the Magic & Joy kids' magic show running at Galleria Gwanggyo. I'd been looking for a show in Suwon we could watch together, and figured a children's magic show would be right up my kid's alley, so I booked ahead and went.

Magic & Joy Gwanggyo: location, parking and ticket pickup

The Magic & Joy kids' magic show is held on the 10th floor of Galleria Department Store Gwanggyo, so it was easy to find. Parking was convenient too, at the Galleria Department Store Gwanggyo parking lot. On weekends there are a lot of visitors, so parking spots can run out — I'd recommend arriving a bit earlier than showtime.

Go up to the 10th floor where CGV is, look for GO PIZZA, and you'll see a 'MAGIC SHOW' sign to the right! Since I'd booked my tickets on Naver, I just picked them up on-site and went straight in.

📌 Note: you'll need this ticket to validate your parking at CGV after the show, so hang onto it!

At the entrance there was a photo booth set up where you could take magazine-style shots.

You can't just walk past a photo zone, haha. We had fun taking pictures with my kid before happily heading in to watch the show.

What are the seats like? Three rows, clear view even from the back

The seating at Magic & Joy Gwanggyo was arranged in about three rows, and the space itself wasn't very large. Maybe because of that, the stage was actually quite visible even from the very back row.

True to a good spot for things to do with kids in Suwon, there were booster cushions provided so kids could sit up comfortably like at a movie theater.

There were also star-shaped cushions to hug while watching, so with both the booster cushion and the star cushion, my kid watched in total comfort.

How does the Magic & Joy show run?

After a short wait, the red curtain opened and the magician appeared! He was genuinely fun and upbeat, haha.

At first I thought it would just be a show where the magician performs various tricks, but there was a lot more kid participation than I expected. He kept asking the kids questions and calling them up on stage to take part in the magic together! My kid even got to touch a pigeon that appeared through magic and was amazed it was real.

He also threw in quizzes here and there, giving prizes to kids who got the answers right, which kept them really engaged! It felt less like a show you just watch and more like the kids were inside the magic show, building it together.

Maybe that's why the kids clapped so much and reacted so well. Even I, the adult, got swept up in it, marveling and clapping along, haha.

How long is the show? About 50 minutes

If you're looking for something to do with kids in Suwon, I think this kind of participatory children's show is a great option. The magic show runs for about 50 minutes! I usually worry kids' shows get boring if they run too long, but with so many parts for kids to join in and such an upbeat magician, the 50 minutes flew by!

At the end, the kids were each given a book so they could try the magic themselves, along with instructions on how to use it. My kid practiced the tricks for a long time even after we got home, saying she wanted to show her friends, haha.

Is Magic & Joy Gwanggyo worth it with kids in Suwon?

Wrapping up the Magic & Joy Gwanggyo kids' magic show visit

What I liked most about the Magic & Joy kids' magic show was that my child could actually take part and enjoy it firsthand. There were lots of questions directed at the kids and chances to go up on stage and participate directly, which made it feel much more fun than simply watching magic. It was also convenient that we could catch the show and handle meals or other errands all within Galleria Department Store Gwanggyo.

If you're looking for something to do with kids in Suwon, the Magic & Joy kids' magic show is worth a weekend outing — 50 minutes of excited participation, and a chance to try the magic yourself once it's over.
