After meeting my sister in Sadang for the first time in a while, we had lunch and coffee, but it felt too soon to just say goodbye — so while looking for a place for a quick beer, I ended up at Weizenhaus, a Sadang bar known for its craft beer.

Where is Weizenhaus Bangbae Branch 1, and how do you find the entrance?
Weizenhaus Bangbae Branch 1 is located at 22 Dongjak-daero, Sammi Building, Seocho-gu, Seoul. Come out of Exit 11 of Sadang Station and this Sadang Station favorite is basically right in front of you.

There are two entrances — the one shown above is the one you enter from Exit 11. Just head down to the basement.
Inside Weizenhaus Bangbae Branch 1: seating and layout

There are several 4-person tables, and the tables further inside can be used as group seating.

With its brick interior, exposed concrete, and warm lighting, this Sadang Station bar has a vintage, exotic yet comfortable pub vibe. By the way, the photo above was taken looking down from the duplex upstairs :) You can see a wood-fired oven in the kitchen where they bake pizza. Since we just came for a quick drink, pizza felt like too much for the two of us, so we skipped it — but next time I'll have to try the pizza-and-beer combo.

The photo above shows the duplex upstairs. It's a separate, independent space, so it looks great for a group visit where everyone can sit together.
Since this place is known for its craft beer, it stocks a wide variety of beers along with highballs, cocktails, wine and more — plenty of options to drink to your taste.

Complimentary shrimp chips

Shrimp chips are served as a complimentary snack — nice for a light nibble before the beers arrive.
Weiss (cloud wheat ale) and Winter Sunshine (green grape ale), 6,300 won each

Since we came to a craft beer spot, we had to start with the beer, right? We each picked what we felt like — I chose the Weiss (cloud wheat ale) and my sister chose the Winter Sunshine (green grape ale). The Weiss is a premium wheat beer with a smooth finish and rich fruity aroma, while the Winter Sunshine is a green grape ale with a subtle grape scent, refreshing with a slight bitterness. Neither had a high alcohol content, so both were easy to drink.

The beers came out first, and while we were drinking, the shrimp tacos arrived, so we snapped a photo of everything together :)
Shrimp tacos, 2 pieces for 11,000 won

Since we'd already had lunch and coffee, we wanted something light for a snack, so we ordered the shrimp tacos (2 pieces). Tacos come in sets of 2 or 3, so just order according to how many you want.

Each taco had two plump shrimp inside, and the crunchy lettuce and fresh tomato salsa worked together really well with the craft beer. They're packed with filling, so rolling up the tortilla and eating it with your hands is the way to go :)
Round two: Harry Potter dark ale, 6,800 won

The craft beer was so good we each ordered another round. My sister tried a sip of my Weiss (cloud wheat ale) and liked it enough to order it as her second beer, while I was curious about the name 'Harry Potter,' so I went for that dark ale. It's described as having nutty coffee and chocolate notes added, and I found it lighter than a typical dark ale, which I actually preferred :) The Harry Potter also had a low alcohol content, so it went down easily.
Churros for dessert, 12,000 won

With the tacos finished, we were again looking for something simple, and the churros caught our eye, so we ordered them.

The churros come half chocolate-flavored and half plain, served with whipped cream.

Dipping them into the soft, sweet whipped cream made them even better. Crispy outside and soft inside, exactly as churros should be, and that sweet-and-salty combo with beer kept us going :)
Open from 4pm, Weizenhaus is a craft beer spot near Sadang Station that's perfect for a light drink when, like us, you're not quite ready to part ways early.
