Gangnam dakgalbi restaurant, free rice cake for women: Dakgalbijeon

In short

Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch is a cheese dakgalbi (stir-fried chicken) and perilla leaf potato pancake restaurant on the 2nd floor of Gangnam Diobil, near Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. On a weekend lunch visit with her boyfriend, the writer ordered gamssachidak, the cheese dakgalbi dish, added udon noodles and finished with fried rice. Between the free milddeok (wheat rice cake) for women's tables, group seating and on-site parking, Dakgalbijeon also works as a gathering spot near Gangnam Station.

Gangnam really is the holy land of transportation!! My boyfriend and I had plans to head to Pangyo, so we agreed to meet at Gangnam Station first. While debating what to eat for lunch, we decided to check out Dakgalbijeon, known as a solid value dakgalbi (stir-fried chicken) spot near Gangnam Station ✨

Side dishes and the free rice cake for women's tables

Basic side dishes served at Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch

The basic side dishes came out like this. They were also running some interesting little events. Only tables of women got milddeok (wheat rice cake) — there wasn't an event for couples, sadly, sadly... 🤣

Ordering gamssachidak with udon noodles added

This place has a great lineup of set menus that pair dakgalbi with savory potato pancake for great value. Potato pancake, kimchi pancake, chive pancake — they're all completely my type, so it was so hard to pick just one, hahahaha, ㅠ

What we ended up ordering was gamssachidak, which comes with cheese dakgalbi!!

Cheese dakgalbi (gamssachidak) served on a hot plate

The dakgalbi comes out already almost fully stir-fried, so once the cheese melts, you can just dig right in.

You could choose between udon noodles or ramen noodles as an add-on, and personally, I felt like thick, chewy udon noodles go better with dakgalbi, so that's what I picked.

The sweet-spicy sauce paired with the savory richness of the cheese — how could that combination not be delicious...🥹🥹

What I loved most was that since it's nearly fully cooked already, there's no long wait — you can dig in right away haha

And now, the moment we'd been waiting for — the potato pancake~~ I never expected dakgalbi and potato pancake to pair so well, but wrapping the dakgalbi in the pancake like a wrap was genuinely delicious hahaha

The edges come out crispy like fried food, and the fragrant aroma of the perilla leaf along with the mild, clean flavor of the potato really tamed the spiciness of the dakgalbi — I couldn't put my chopsticks down..★

Finishing the meal with fried rice

Finishing things off by mixing the leftover sauce and cheese base into a K-dessert fried rice made for the perfect complete meal~~

With its great accessibility near Sinnonhyeon Station and available parking, plus a full house at weekend lunch proving its status as a dakgalbi restaurant near Gangnam Station worth the hype!! If you're looking to enjoy delicious dakgalbi with a drink and good company one evening, I highly recommend making your way to Dakgalbijeon, a great meeting-spot restaurant near Sinnonhyeon! 🤍
