Siheung restaurant for spicy pork cutlet: Jeongssi Hambak

After camping on Daebudo, we were looking for somewhere to eat nearby in Baegot, Siheung, and visited Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch, which had good reviews as a great-value local restaurant. The portions were generous and the food was good too, so my group and I had a very satisfying meal. Here’s my firsthand review.

Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch is close to Daebudo and Yeongheungdo, making it a convenient stop on the way back after an overnight stay. Above all, the prices felt approachable while the food portions were generous, so it struck me as a restaurant with strong value for money.

Parking support was available with our meal, and the underground parking lot was fairly spacious, so there was plenty of room. Jeongssi Hambak is in the Orange Building, which may make it easier to find when you park.

An interior suited to solo meals or groups

The interior had an antique feel while remaining tidy overall. Several table arrangements were available, making it easy to visit alone or dine with a larger group depending on the occasion.

Except for the tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), side dishes were not served separately; you pick them up yourself at the self-service bar. The staff explain it on your first visit, so it was not difficult, but it is useful to know beforehand.

The prices were generally not burdensome either. It seemed affordable for a date meal, and it also looked like a good option for students.

It was nice to be able to take as many side dishes as we wanted from the self-service bar. They went well with the mains, and the seasoning was just right for eating alongside the food.

The tteokbokki served with the meal could be refilled once as a complimentary service. It was sweet and had the flavor of old-fashioned market-style tteokbokki, which I enjoyed.

Ask for extra sauce with the spicy pork cutlet

Jeongssi Hambak’s own spicy pork cutlet sauce suited my taste well, and the handmade pork cutlet was large and crispy, making it delicious. As someone who loves sauces, I felt there was a little too little sauce for the amount of cutlet, so I asked for more—and they gave me a generous amount, which was great. Along with the cutlet, the plate included fries, potato balls, salad, and rice, so there was a nice variety to enjoy.

Toowoomba pasta that cuts through the richness

The Toowoomba pasta combined plump shrimp with a rich cream sauce and a touch of spice, which kept the cream from becoming too heavy. I do not usually like pasta where the noodles and sauce feel separate, but the noodles were cooked just right and had absorbed the sauce well, so I enjoyed it.

Thick and tender Jeongssi Hambak

Jeongssi Hambak, a classic Western-style dish, came with a thick yet tender hamburg steak topped with its special sauce and a soft-cooked egg. The hamburg steak itself was quite generous, and it came with a plentiful salad, making it satisfying as a full meal. The combination of the steak and sauce worked especially well, and I enjoyed it.

A satisfying Baegot meal with generous portions

Jeongssi Hambak in Baegot, Siheung, was a place where we could have a generous meal without spending too much, and after visiting, I understood why its reviews describe it as such good value. Its location also makes it a good place to stop when looking for a meal after visiting Daebudo or Yeongheungdo, and it seemed suitable for everything from solo dining and dates to meals with several people.
