One weekend morning, after an early run to the Gimpo Hyundai Outlet, I wanted a satisfying brunch, so I headed to Haenon Miyeok in Anigol, Pungdong.

It had been a while since I'd been to Anigol, and since I just started driving, this was actually my first time driving there! It turned out to be easier to find by car than I expected, and there was plenty of parking space right in front — I parked without waiting at all~

Which seaweed soups Haenon Miyeok serves, and what the room is like

Haenon Miyeok specializes in miyeokguk (seaweed soup), so you can try versions made with octopus, sea urchin roe, oyster, abalone, mussel, beef, and more. Just looking at the menu, I figured it would be right up my mom's alley, so I picked it for our mother-daughter date!

The interior was really spacious with generous gaps between tables, which seemed great for family gatherings too. In fact, there were several groups at nearby tables clearly having family get-togethers.

One set meal per person: how many grilled flounder do you get?

At Haenon Miyeok, everyone at the table must order their own set meal! Seasoned grilled flounder comes out according to the number of diners — one fish for a 2-person table, two fish for 3 or more. Ordering different sets at the same table is totally fine.

Guide to Haenon Miyeok's set meal composition

Beef seaweed soup set ₩20,000, abalone boneless flounder seaweed soup set ₩26,000. This is what we ordered!

Side dishes and the self-serve bar at Haenon Miyeok

The basic side dishes came out right after ordering. Everything was served in pottery dishes, which felt classier, and there were plenty of tasty banchan (side dishes).

The cockle muchim (seasoned blood cockles) and chicken breast cold salad were especially delicious 🥹

A staff member pointed us to the self-serve bar. You could go back for more of the basic banchan, plus there were extra side dishes that hadn't been served at the table.

The staff recommended the stir-fried garlic scapes and braised tofu, saying they were only available at the self-serve bar! We could also help ourselves to as much stir-fried zucchini, seasoned parae (green laver), kimchi, cockle muchim, and garlic scape with dried shrimp stir-fry as we wanted ㅠㅠ

Sweet-and-sour mushrooms and japchae at the self-serve bar

The braised tofu and sweet-and-sour mushrooms looked beautiful.. and there was even warm japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) kept ready. The side dishes were so good the rice felt like it wasn't enough!

Beef seaweed soup vs abalone and flounder seaweed soup

Haenon Miyeok's beef seaweed soup set is ₩20,000, and the abalone boneless flounder seaweed soup set is ₩26,000. The soups arrived in big ttukbaegi (stone pots) — bubbling hot and generously portioned since the pots are large!

The beef and seaweed were truly packed in. No matter how much I ate, there was still more beef ㅋㅋㅋ It had a deep, rich flavor — genuinely delicious 🥹

My mom's pick, the flounder seaweed soup, also came with abalone! The abalone was huge, and huge = delicious‼️

Deboned flounder and 2 pieces of abalone in the boneless flounder seaweed soup ❤️ The broth's flavor was completely different from the beef version, giving it a distinct feel. I expected it to be fishy, but it wasn't at all..! I ended up preferring the flounder soup, while my mom preferred the beef soup ㅋㅋ

Gondeure rice served with Haenon Miyeok's set meal

The rice is gondeure-bap (rice with gondre herb)

The rice was, of all things, gondeure-bap (thistle rice) ☺️ The portion wasn't huge, but with so much soup and such good side dishes, more rice might have made us burst anyway?

Packing leftover soup home and the review event

At Haenon Miyeok, you can pack leftover soup to take home for a ₩1,000 container fee. Since we each got a full pot of soup, it was wa~~~y too much, so we packed the rest!

Menu item received through the review event

There's also a review event where you can get a free drink or jeon (savory pancake).

Parking at Haenon Miyeok in Anigol, Goyang

Parking is available for 20+ cars right in front of the restaurant~ That said, since the place is spacious and business is good, it can get crowded with both cars and people! I'm planning to come back for a family gathering next time ❤️
