The hot Paju bakery has landed at Hyundai Department Store KINTEX Taking home bread from Boulangerie Tan, a KINTEX station favorite in Goyang
If you love bread, you've probably heard of this place as a must-visit stop on a bakery pilgrimage. I went back to Boulangerie Tan, the bakery that became famous in Chorongkkot Village, Unjeong, Paju. When I first heard it was opening a branch at Hyundai Department Store in Ilsan, I was so happy haha.

Where is Boulangerie Tan inside Hyundai Department Store KINTEX?
Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX is located on the basement 1st floor snack street of the department store. That makes it a handy stop when you're already there grocery shopping or eating. It's near my house so I swing by the mall often, and since I like taking bread home to eat, I drop in from time to time.

The Paju bakery behind Boulangerie Tan

Boulangerie Tan is originally a bakery that many people flock to in Chorongkkot Village, Unjeong, Paju. Since it opened at Hyundai Department Store KINTEX, I don't have to go all the way to Paju anymore, so I pick up bread here often.

Boulangerie Tan reportedly uses a self-cultivated natural sourdough starter called levain, along with organic wheat and French wheat. They use Lescure AOP butter, natural butter, and dairy cream, which gave me the sense that they really care about their ingredients.

Above all, their same-day-baked, same-day-discarded principle is worth noting. Selling bread made that same day is one reason I keep coming back to pick some up.
Coffee at Boulangerie Tan and bread to go

I originally planned to go alone, but ended up bringing my kid along on the preschool pickup run. Last time I went overboard with chocolate everything, so this time I decided to pick just one chocolate item haha.

If you want to eat right at the Boulangerie Tan KINTEX branch, there are tables nearby you can use. I wanted to eat with milk at home, so I took mine to go. They also sell coffee, so pairing it with freshly baked bread at the table right in front is a nice option too.

The four breads picked up this time
This time I chose a good variety: the signature chocolate baguette and vanilla cornet pie, milk cream salt bread, and — after watching it being made fresh — a sun-dried tomato salt bread sandwich too. They also have gift boxes, so the popular cornet pie makes a good dessert gift packed in one.

With so many kinds of bread, it wasn't easy to pick just one, so I ended up grabbing one of each. The cornet pie and milk salt bread are packed full inside. Last time there was still chocolate baguette left, so I grabbed that right away too — it's the signature item, so be sure to try it.

Sweet vanilla cornet pie, salty milk cream salt bread, the plain yet subtly sweet chocolate baguette, and the sun-dried tomato salt bread sandwich that tasted even better fresh — it was a perfect lineup. The sun-dried tomato salt bread sandwich in particular was made fresh for me, so the fluffy texture was satisfying too.
