Haenggung-dong, Suwon course restaurant for a maternity date: Hado
In short
Hado is a course-meal restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. On the last weekend before a scheduled C-section, a couple shared Hado's 45,000-won base course: pea and sweet shrimp apple tarts, carbonara and bisque pasta, chuck flap and chicken breast sous vide steaks, and Earl Grey ice cream. Every dish at Hado was polished enough to recommend for an anniversary date.

Hado in Haenggung-dong, Suwon: a maternity date before the baby
Hado is a course-meal restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, where the base course is 45,000 won per person. My C-section date had just been scheduled. So last weekend, the last one before giving birth, I wanted a proper date with my husband and something a little special. So we went to Hado, a course-meal spot in Haenggung-dong, one of Suwon's hottest neighborhoods.

What Hado's dining room and table CD players are like
Hado's dining room has 4 tables for two, 2 tables for four, and 6 bar seats, with generous spacing between tables, so we could eat comfortably.

One unusual touch: there's a CD player mounted on the wall, and you can grab a CD near the entrance and listen through wired earphones. My husband picked up a Charlie Puth CD and we listened together while waiting for the course to start.
What is in Hado's course, and what it costs
Hado courses: Summer season course (₩69,000), Base course (₩45,000)

The course begins once your reservation time arrives. There are two courses, the summer season course and the base course; we picked the base course at 45,000 won per person. We also ordered a lemon lavender ade to go with it.
Pasta and steak have to be chosen ahead of time when you reserve. Pasta options are carbonara, vongole, bisque, squid ink oil, and pomodoro — my husband went with carbonara, I went with bisque. Chicken breast sous vide is the default steak, with a chuck flap sous vide upgrade for +21,000 won; we ordered one of each so we could try both.
Starter: pea tart and sweet shrimp apple tart

Out came a pea tart with pea purée and peas on top, and a sweet shrimp apple tart with potato purée topped with sweet shrimp and apple. You're meant to eat the pea tart first, then the sweet shrimp apple tart. Both had a nice crisp texture — the pea one was savory and nutty, while the sweet shrimp tart was soft and refreshing, a perfect starter.
Pasta course: carbonara and bisque
The pasta in Hado's base course was pretty even down to the bowls. Neither sauce was heavy-handed, but it clung well to the noodles so it stayed good until the last bite, and the seasoning was on point.

My husband's carbonara came topped with salt-cured meat. The moment it hit his mouth, a salty, rich savoriness spread through, and while the aftertaste lingered, the crisp texture of the meat on top came through at the same time. The salty, crispy meat paired really well with the noodles.

My bisque pasta was delicious, with the shellfish's signature umami and nuttiness fully alive. The shrimp on top was crisp outside and tender inside — seared crisp on the outside, so it was rich and tasty at the same time.
Protein: chuck flap sous vide vs chicken breast sous vide

The chuck flap steak came with a wine sauce — the aroma was great and the meat itself was tender. The carrots served as garnish were crisp and sweet, and the roasted garlic aroma hit just right. The meat wasn't especially fatty, but the moment you bit in, it felt clean while the wine sauce's aroma lingered all through your mouth.

The chicken breast steak, cooked sous vide, was tender. The carrot purée was nutty and mildly sweet, topped with fried quinoa for a crisp texture that worked well together. The purée was thick and sweet enough to be delicious, and even better paired with the roasted garlic. I don't usually like chicken breast, but I enjoyed this one — honestly, I liked the chicken breast sous vide steak even more than the chuck flap.
Dessert: Earl Grey ice cream

The Earl Grey ice cream looked so pretty it almost felt like a shame to eat it. The Earl Grey and cream together made for an incredibly soft texture, and the caramel sauce added a slightly bitter note. There was also a crunchy texture mixed in, which made it even better.
Why Hado works for an anniversary date in Suwon
This was our last leisurely course meal together before the baby arrives, and every single dish was polished enough that it felt like a genuinely satisfying time. If you're looking for a course-meal restaurant in Haenggung-dong for a special occasion like an anniversary, I'd recommend Hado.
