In short
Susan Sadang Main Branch is an izakaya on Nambusunhwan-ro271ga-gil near Sadang Station in Dongjak, Seoul, serving sashimi, yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and oden (fish cake stew) as drinking food. Why two friends picked Susan Sadang Main Branch for dinner near Sadang Station
I had a dinner appointment in Sadang and was looking for a place when I ended up at Susan Sadang Main Branch!

There are so many bars near Sadang Station that I couldn't decide where to go, but the menu here looked so varied that I settled on this place.

Once inside, it was bigger than I expected and full of customers, so we went down to the basement. It had a nice atmosphere for a relaxed drink and chat with friends. What we ordered: sujiyukhoe oden and yukhoe maki!
Suji oden, 30,000 won: fish cake, beef tendon and egg in one pot

The sujiyukhoe oden came out first, and it looked hearty from the get-go~ Not just fish cake but also suji (beef tendon), radish, bok choy, egg, and more, so it was fun picking through each ingredient. The warm broth in particular was rich and delicious yet clean, pairing perfectly with drinks.
The suji had a great chewy texture, and with so many types of fish cake to pick from, it disappeared quickly. Perfect for a chilly day or whenever you're craving a warm broth dish.
Yukhoe maki, 25,000 won: rolls piled with beef tartare
And then the yukhoe maki I'd been looking forward to!

The yukhoe (raw beef tartare) was piled generously on top, so it won me over visually the moment it arrived. The fresh yukhoe was plentiful and had a deep, nutty flavor — anyone who loves yukhoe would enjoy this.
Yukhoe maki was ₩25,000 and sujiyukhoe oden was ₩30,000. With two of us eating, ordering one warm broth dish alongside one yukhoe dish worked out well since the flavors didn't overlap. Eating the warm oden, then a bite of yukhoe maki, then another spoonful of oden broth — the combo was great.

Is Susan Sadang Main Branch good for friend meetups and work dinners?
Sadang is such a popular meeting spot that a lot of people are probably looking for a Sadang bar to go to for friend gatherings, work dinners, or dates.

Susan Sadang Main Branch has everything from raw fish and yukhoe dishes to warm oden dishes, so it's a good spot for a group to order according to different tastes! If you like eating a bit of everything rather than sticking to one dish, like me, sharing several menu items works well. That's probably why groups seem to come here a lot!

Of everything we ate that day, the chewy suji and rich broth of the sujiyukhoe oden, plus the yukhoe-piled yukhoe maki, were especially delicious :)

Susan Sadang Main Branch: the short version
Our sujiyukhoe oden was packed generously with various kinds of fish cake, chewy suji, egg, vegetables, and even konjac noodles, so it looked appetizing from the start. The warm broth had a deep, rich flavor with a subtle tingling kick added in, making it perfect for drinking. The suji especially had that satisfying chewy texture that kept me reaching for more.
The yukhoe maki also had plenty of yukhoe piled on top, so anyone who likes yukhoe would enjoy it. The nutty, rich yukhoe flavor really came through, and ordering it together with the sujiyukhoe oden let us alternate between warm broth and yukhoe — a great combination.
The restaurant also had a relaxed atmosphere that was good for chatting with friends over the meal, and with such a varied menu, I'd like to try other dishes next time.
This place would suit anyone looking for a spot for gatherings or work dinners near Sadang Station, or a Sadang restaurant for a casual drink after work. I especially liked that you can enjoy everything from warm broth dishes to yukhoe!
If you're looking for a place in Sadang to have drinks with friends and enjoy good food, Susan Sadang Main Branch — a Sadang bar — might be worth checking out :)
