My boyfriend and I really love gopchang (grilled beef intestines)? Did you know there's a genuinely delicious beef gopchang place in Sadang..? (Bloggers, you can even get sponsored here..!!)
It's Bareun Hwangso Gopchang, a gopchang spot right in front of Sadang Station Exit 10! I went once before without expecting much and it was so good that I came back again this time haha.
Where is Bareun Hwangso Gopchang and when is it open?

Inside Bareun Hwangso Gopchang: storefront and dining room

Bareun Hwangso Gopchang is a 5-minute walk from Sadang Station Exit 10, so it's pretty accessible. And it's tucked away from the noisy main streets of Sadang, so it wasn't too loud, which I liked. Right across the street there's also a (Bam-ti) claw machine arcade ^^

The restaurant itself is on the small side, with about 6-8 tables inside (I don't remember exactly..). Maybe that's why it's almost always full whenever I go (especially insane on Friday and weekend nights). We came on a Monday, about as weekday as weekdays get, and even then it was more than half full the whole time we were there!

Judging by the number of bottle caps stuck on the wall, I'm guessing this is a gopchang spot regulars come to drink at...
The interior has a bit of a street-tent-meets-old-school-tavern vibe, which somehow makes you want to drink more ~

There are lots of little handwritten notes to read too, fun to look around lol. Apparently beef gopchang is full of collagen and elastin and other elastic fibers? Good for you, so I guess I should eat lots of it ㅇㅇㅋ

Seems like it's a pretty famous gopchang place in Sadang, there were even a few celebrity signatures on the wall ㄷㄷ But honestly, it really is that delicious;;
The menu at Bareun Hwangso Gopchang: one main, the assorted gopchang

Bareun Hwangso Gopchang's main menu has exactly one item.. assorted gopchang. And here's the crazy part: the heart and vegetable sides come free, without being counted in the gram weight! (+ the side dish fish cake soup also comes free, with refills.)
You can also order gopchang, daechang, heart, and makchang individually as add-ons, so most people order the assorted set first and add extras later. (But honestly the portion isn't small, so you don't really need to!)
What we ordered at Bareun Hwangso Gopchang
Order — Assorted gopchang for two | 50.0 / Kkakdugi fried rice | 4.0
Banchan: seasoned chives and cheonyeop (beef tripe)

The basic side dishes are seasoned chives and beef tripe! I liked that the staff asked us first whether we eat tripe before serving it haha.
I'm actually in the camp that doesn't love tripe, but the tripe here had no gamey smell at all, just a nice crunch — it was totally fine to eat! Honestly it felt like eating for the sesame oil and ssamjang flavor lol.

Free fish cake soup with refills
Fish cake soup comes as a basic side dish, and this soup is unbelievably good!!! I'm not usually big on fish cake soup as a side for drinking, but this one is on a totally different level... genuinely delicious... T_T

They bring it out bubbling away like this, and you can even get free refills if you want more..! Inside it's mostly just fish cake and bean sprouts, but it's seasoned perfectly and it's really, really good..

Assorted gopchang for two, 250g of gopchang, daechang and makchang (plus free heart and vegetables)
The assorted gopchang comes with gopchang, daechang, and makchang as standard, plus heart and vegetable sides thrown in :-) There's quite a variety of vegetables too — chives, onion, king oyster mushroom, wedge potato, and even rice cake sticks!

Everything except the heart comes pre-grilled, so the staff told us we could eat it as soon as it arrived — and they cooked it up for us right on the spot!

Honestly at most Korean BBQ places these days, one serving per person doesn't even make a dent... but thanks to the free heart and vegetables, one serving each ended up being plenty.
For one adult woman and one adult man, one serving of the assorted gopchang each plus one or two side dishes was just the right amount.

The gopchang, makchang, and daechang all looked so delicious,, look at that plump daechang!!! Truly as tasty as it looks, this assorted gopchang,,

It's pre-grilled so you can eat it right away, but there's also something to be said for cooking it further until golden brown! The grill at Sadang's Bareun Hwangso Gopchang has a dip in the middle so the fat from the gopchang, makchang, and daechang drains right off, and cooking the vegetables in that fat until golden,, pure bliss,,

Kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice, 4,000 won
It's a secret but (not really), Sadang's Bareun Hwangso Gopchang is honestly an amazing side dish spot too? Of course, there are only three sides — fish cake soup, kkakdugi fried rice, and buldak tongtong noodles — but all three are incredible T_T
Last time I visited I had the buldak tongtong noodles, and I remember it being so good.. today I wasn't really in the mood for spicy, so I ordered the fried rice!

They bring out a fresh hot plate to fry the rice on, and you can add as much mayo as you like haha. We're major mayo lovers, so we went heavy >,,<

With the burner turned back on, it came out crispy on the outside and soft inside. Maybe because it's a metal plate, the rice didn't stick at all and lifted off cleanly, so we ate every last grain happily T_T The little chopped bits of kkakdugi (radish kimchi) mixed in were crunchy, kind of like the pickled radish in a rice ball! Anyway.. the fried rice was really delicious too ~..!
Is Bareun Hwangso Gopchang worth it? Final verdict

Bareun Hwangso Gopchang is basically my favorite Korean BBQ spot in Sadang — the meat and the sides were all so good. Plus with the free heart, vegetable sides, and free fish cake soup, the value for money is great too!
If you're looking for a good beef gopchang spot in Sadang, definitely give this one a try,, (if you like spicy, the buldak tongtong noodles are a must too!!)
