While hunting for a great prime rib spot in Ingye-dong, Suwon, I visited Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch (짚불태백 수원인계점)! Before I get into the food, let me start with some parking tips that are worth knowing ahead of time.
Where do you park at Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch?
Since the restaurant sits in Ingye-dong, parking isn't exactly a breeze. Instead, there are free parking spaces near Hyowon Park nearby, so parking there and walking over turned out to be the easiest option.
If you park near Hyowon Park, it's roughly a 3-5 minute walk to the restaurant, so the distance isn't a burden at all. If you're driving, I'd recommend looking for parking around Hyowon Park from the start — it makes the whole visit much smoother.
Inside Jipbul Taebaek: the room and the window seats
Walking into Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch, the interior was bigger and more pleasant than I expected! As you can see in the photo below, even the entrance was decorated nicely haha.
A lot of BBQ places feel stuffy because of the smoke and smell, but Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch is spacious and well-ventilated, so I could eat pretty comfortably. I especially loved the window seat I ended up in.
The window side felt open, with good airflow and ventilation, so eating meat there felt less stuffy. The usual BBQ-restaurant smell didn't seem to linger as much, which made the meal that much more pleasant.

There were logs and a charcoal-fire-style display (or maybe real? not sure ㅎㅎ) plus a pretty little pond-like decoration, which all looked really nice.

The interior was really spacious and the tables were spaced well apart, so I didn't feel cramped at all! The chairs also open up for storage, so you can stash your clothes or belongings without worrying about smoke smell haha.

The chairs were nice and cushiony too, which left me with the impression that they'd really thought about guest comfort haha.

Self-serve side dish bar and drink fridge
They give you a set of side dishes right away, but for anyone who wants more, there's a self-serve bar too...! Lettuce, kimchi, perilla leaves, peppers and more, all freely refillable — looked great.

A variety of alcohol and drinks kept nice and cold too~~! : ) Okay, now let's get into the actual menu review..!
Straw-fired prime rib grilled tableside by staff
First they set the table with side dishes and various sauces, and wow, they really arranged everything abundantly and beautifully!

That's the basic setup shown above, and if you want more, you can always hit up the self-serve bar too, which is great haha. And now, the star of the show, the prime rib...!!

They bring it out plated beautifully on top of straw fire like this haha!

That piece of fat on top is used to oil the grill plate first, and then the staff grill the meat for you directly..! Instead of coming out as raw meat, it arrives already partially seared over straw fire, and the moment it hit the table, the faint straw-fire aroma was so good. The surface looked deliciously charred and the meat itself was thick, so it looked promising from the start.
And the best part — a staff member grills the meat for you personally! With a thick cut like prime rib, the level of doneness makes a huge difference in flavor, so having someone grill it to the perfect timing was both convenient and noticeably tastier.
They first cut the main part of the prime rib into generous pieces and grilled each one with care, then placed the cooked meat neatly on top of the rib bone — it looked absolutely mouthwatering.

One bite in, the meat was really tender and full of juice, and since it was seared over straw fire, it had a subtle smokiness and nutty flavor different from regular grilled beef. The meat itself is Australian beef, so personally that gave me a bit more peace of mind, and it had no gamey smell — clean but full of flavor, so I kept reaching for more.

Once the main part of the prime rib is fully cooked, they place it cutely on top of the rib bone like this haha. They also grill kimchi and vegetables like mushrooms alongside so you can eat those too : )

Second grilling: the meat inside the rib bones
If you thought that was the end of the meat, think again..! After you finish the main cut, the staff pick off the meat still clinging to the rib bone piece by piece and grill it for a second round. This part has a totally different texture from the main cut earlier, so even though it's the same prime rib, it felt like eating two different kinds of meat.
If the main cut is thick, tender, and full of juice, the meat from the bone is a bit chewier with a deeper, nuttier flavor — a different kind of charm! I personally loved being able to enjoy the main cut first and then thoroughly clean up the meat on the bone as a second course. It felt like truly enjoying one prime rib order to the fullest, which was very satisfying.

Zero-sugar cola and ice cups at Jipbul Taebaek
At the end, I also ordered a zero-sugar cola, and when I asked for ice cups, they prepared two cups filled with ice, so I could drink it nice and cold. Taking a sip of cold zero-sugar cola between bites of savory, salty prime rib was a really great combo.
For anyone who doesn't drink alcohol, or pregnant guests who want a drink alongside their meal instead of alcohol, this cold carbonated pairing worked really well with the meat.
Overall, the prime rib itself, with its subtle straw-fire aroma, was really delicious, and having staff grill it to the perfect doneness made it even more satisfying. Being able to properly enjoy both the main cut and the rib-bone meat in two separate rounds means anyone who loves prime rib should be really happy here, so I'd recommend it : )
A walk through Hyowon Park after dinner
On the way back to the car after the meal, my husband and I were so full that we ended up taking a short walk through Hyowon Park! We'd eaten so much meat that I wanted to walk a bit, and since Hyowon Park was right nearby, it turned out to be the perfect spot for a post-meal stroll.

Hyowon Park was managed more neatly and prettily than I expected, so it was nice to walk through slowly. The whole park felt well-kept and pleasant, making it a great spot for a light walk to help digest after the meal.
Because of parking, we happened to leave the car near Hyowon Park, and thanks to that we got to explore the park after eating too — great prime rib followed by a walk made it feel like a pretty good date course overall.

If you're driving to Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch, I'd recommend parking near Hyowon Park, enjoying a delicious prime rib meal, and then taking a light loop around the park afterward~~! :)
