Seoul coffee shop with 10-spice homemade cola near Wangsimni: Eojil In

I had something to do around Wangsimni this week on a weekday, so I went looking for a nearby café and ended up at Eojil In, a Wangsimni café known for its desserts. When I searched around, the homemade cola kept catching my eye haha. I was curious too, so I stopped by on a weekday afternoon.

Where is Eojil In, and what are its hours?

The address is 18 Majo-ro 9-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, 1st and 2nd floor. It's only about 35m from Exit 6 of Wangsimni Station — walk a little straight ahead and it's right there on the left. One minute on foot, so it's easy to stop by before or after an appointment.

It's also close to the back gate of Hanyang University, so plenty of Hanyang University students looking for a café cake spot come here too. It's open daily from 09:00 to 22:30, with last order at 22:00. Since it opens at 9am, it's also nice to sit quietly in the morning.

Is there parking at Eojil In?

Parking at Eojil In is free, but only 2 cars can park in the building. If it's full, you can park at the E-Mart right next door. Seats fill up fast on weekends or in the evening, so the subway might actually be more convenient haha.

First and second floor seating and the interior

Eojil In uses both the 1st and 2nd floors. You order on the 1st floor, and they tell you to check whether seats are available before ordering. That's how busy this place gets — I waited a bit too before sitting down on the 1st floor haha.

The 2nd floor has a layout with wide couple seats and study seats. The big sofa seats seemed to be used a lot by people working. However, tables with a small sign on them can't be used with laptops or tablets.

Water is self-serve. The tissue has the Wi-Fi password and restroom code printed on it — little touches like that were oddly comforting. The interior is wood-toned, so it feels soft and calm overall. The lighting is gentle too, making it comfortable whether you're sitting alone or chatting with someone.

House-roasted beans and bakery baked fresh daily

I thought it was just a café with good vibes, but Eojil In actually has a separate roasting space. They say they roast their own beans to serve fresh, well-balanced coffee. The decaf coffee had a nice nutty flavor too, good for evening drinking.

There's a reason it's known as a Wangsimni café bakery — they keep a professional pâtissier and bake everything fresh in-store every day. Knowing they use only fresh ingredients and put care into it made me trust what I was eating.

I agonized over the choices and ended up picking these four haha.

Homemade cola with 10 spices (6,000 won)

Eojil In's homemade cola is said to have 10 spices in it, and it really was a sophisticated flavor. It tasted new yet familiar somehow — I could swear there was a hint of cinnamon and vanilla.

It's moderately sweet without being too sweet, so it went well with the desserts. It's still recognizably cola, but with the aromatics more alive, and it felt healthier than a regular soda. I think I'll be coming back just thinking about this haha.

Lemon ade (6,000 won)

The lemon ade was refreshing and cool, great alongside sweet desserts. If a spiced drink sounds like too much, this one is probably the easier choice.

Egg tart (3,800 won) and lemon madeleine (3,500 won)

The egg tart was crisp outside and soft inside — it disappeared in one bite haha. The lemon madeleine was moist with a subtle lemon aroma that went really well with the cola too. It was the kind of sweetness that just puts you in a good mood.

Is Eojil In worth a visit?

I have reasons to stop by Wangsimni fairly often, so I'm really happy to have found such a good café haha. Eojil In's homemade cola and baked goods are the kind of flavors that stay on my mind, so next time I'll try their signature café milk bowl.
