Ttukseom Station café with no 6:30pm wait: mangosteen soufflé at 5to7

I had plans in Seongsu today, so I went out for a little outing haha. After eating and wandering around the Seongsu streets, I suddenly got a huge craving for something sweet, you know? So I searched right away and headed to 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch, famous as a soufflé spot in Seongsu cafés! I went in with high expectations since it's supposedly a soufflé must-visit, so let me tell you how it went lol.

Where is 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch, and what is the café like?

5to7 actually felt closer to Ttukseom Station than Seongsu! The address is 서울 성동구 서울숲2길 44-13 1층. But since I usually wander around Konkuk, Seongsu, and Ttukseom on foot anyway, walking there from Seongsu was totally fine haha.

The first thing I felt walking in was a cozy loft-like vibe! At first I thought "huh, not many seats?" but that wasn't the case at all lol. There's a second floor and even a terrace, so the space was more spacious than expected!

We visited around 6:30pm and there was no wait at all.

Moka pot coffee instead of an espresso machine

As soon as I walked in, I got a sort of open, airy feeling — turns out it's because there's no coffee machine blocking the counter! Instead, here's the quirky thing about this café: they brew coffee with a moka pot, not a machine!

It was fun watching the coffee brew in the moka pot. This was honestly the most fascinating part to me! 🤔

On one side, they kept making soufflés nonstop! 🥞

The mangosteen soufflé was labeled as a limited edition, so I couldn't NOT order it out of curiosity! We got one soufflé plus a variety of coffee and tea, and all the drinks were great too. Since the soufflé is quite sweet, I'd recommend pairing it with the moka pot americano or tea!

The second floor at 5to7 and its steep stairs

To get to the second floor, you have to climb some stairs!

But heads up! The stairs to the second floor are a bit steep, and each step is fairly high. Carrying food up them made me a little nervous lol. Please be careful going up!!

The second floor also has that cozy loft feel, so photos turn out warm and inviting no matter where you shoot!

We took a seat on the second floor. It also had a warm wood-tone interior and plenty of space, which I loved!

Mangosteen soufflé taste review 🤤

Usually at Seongsu soufflé cafés, you wait 15 to over 20 minutes after ordering, right? But at 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch, it came out right after we ordered! Seems like they keep a certain quantity pre-made!!

While waiting for our order, I watched the moka pot brewing and it came out in no time haha.

I kept staring because the moka pot brewing was so fascinating!!

The mangosteen soufflé was pretty just to look at, which instantly put me in a good mood! Turns out it even appeared on the show 'Saturday Is Good For Rice'! 🤭 That made it feel even more exciting somehow haha.

The anticipated first bite! Since it's made ahead of time, it was a little cooled down, but still fluffy and pillowy! Actually, since the soufflé wasn't hot, the cream didn't melt, so it was great for really tasting the cream flavor!

The mangosteen didn't seem to be fresh mangosteen but rather frozen — still, it was refreshing and sweet enough to be delicious! The coffee was also really good, and the sunny peach tea was fragrant and lovely too.

Best season for the terrace seats ☀️

On a nice-weather day, the terrace at 5to7 would be amazing! But there are only 3 terrace seats, so grabbing one seems like it'd be fierce competition~ If you're aiming for the terrace, I'd recommend timing your visit well on a sunny day!

Also, like the mangosteen soufflé, they have limited-edition menu items, so check the soufflé lineup before you visit a Seongsu café haha.

When you're done eating on the second floor, return your dishes on the first floor! Don't forget!!

Where to go next near Seoul Forest

I usually wander around Konkuk, Seongsu, and Ttukseom on foot, so I did the same this time. After eating and heading out for dessert, strolling through the Seongsu streets was perfect. Seoul Forest is really close too! It's about a 3-4 minute walk to Seoul Forest! Pairing dessert with a walk makes for a really full day! (Blood sugar spike, yes!!)

Is 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch worth a visit?

To sum up, 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch has a cozy loft atmosphere, soufflé that comes out instantly, and moka pot coffee on top of that! It's on the pricier side, but it's a Seongsu café where you get both atmosphere and taste. Recommended for anyone hunting for a soufflé must-visit around Seongsu and Ttukseom!
