Suwon Korean BBQ restaurant for quick 4mm pork: Taejang Sikdang
In short
Taejang Sikdang Suwon Station Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Suwon Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi. After about 15 minutes of waiting on a Wednesday, I had 4mm frozen pork belly with bibim naengmyeon, zucchini doenjang stew, and fried rice. Verdict: the thin pork and grill-ready side dishes made for such a satisfying dinner.

Today, I was craving frozen pork belly rather than regular samgyeopsal! So I headed to Taejang Sikdang Suwon Station Branch, a spot famous for pork belly near Suwon Station 😇

Hehe, it’s in the alley where all the great Suwon Station restaurants are gathered 🤓

It’s on the second floor of Mono Mansion, so it’s easy enough to find~ Go up the stairs and there it is! Taejang Sikdang, serving retro-style frozen pork belly near Suwon Station, haha.

The restaurant was pretty spacious and had lots of tables! But I was surprised that it was bustling even on a Wednesday weekday.. There was a wait ahead of us, so we joined via Catchtable ㅠㅠ I think we waited about 15 minutes? Haha, a wait on a Wednesday—proof that it’s the real deal…💦

But there was this arcade machine in the waiting area, hahaha. We played a little while we waited, and the time flew by 👾

So fun… hahaha. It’s a frozen pork belly hotspot near Suwon Station, but also an arcade hotspot(?) There were seriously so many games, but I don’t know how to play any of them, so I only played Tetris.. haha.
Taejang Sikdang menu and choosing the 4mm frozen pork belly

The menu had its signature frozen pork belly and side dishes, haha. There was even tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and Jjapagetti instant noodles, so I thought people having a meal and drinks together would really love it~ haha. I debated between 4mm and 6mm, then ordered the 4mm because I was craving thinner frozen pork belly 🐷 (Of course, we ordered sides too..)
4mm frozen pork belly ₩11,000
The staff grilled the first round of meat for us, haha. They set out the side dishes so nicely too~~ Maybe because it was 4mm, it was seriously thin hahaha! The meat went down so easily~~

The quality looks good, right? Haha, how is this ₩11,000.. With prices these days, the value is insane ㅜㅜ Oh, and I took this photo after putting one round on the grill, so I think it’s around 1.3 portions(?)

I loved that it cooked so quickly🥹 When you’re hungry, waiting for thick meat to cook is annoying(?) Looking at it again is making my mouth water💦

They even sprinkled on pepper, so I could enjoy it deliciously with no gaminess at all✨

The side dishes here are incredible too.. They grilled the bean sprouts, gosari (bracken fern), and kimchi with the meat, so you can enjoy them even richer and tastier🫶🏻

Load up a lettuce wrap with the sides and meat, add ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), and take a bite—it tastes heavenly🤧 Now I see why it’s famous for frozen pork belly near Suwon Station…💗

It was totally delicious even just with bean sprouts, and it was great with only ssamjang or wasabi too—the frozen pork belly flavor really came through… haha. I especially loved the gosari that was soaked in the rendered fat(?) ㅠㅠ
Bibim naengmyeon ₩6,000

I debated between rice and naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), then went with naengmyeon! I loved that they gave us plenty of broth too🤍 I like starting with bibim naengmyeon, then adding broth to turn it into mul naengmyeon, you know 🤓

Wrapping the frozen pork belly in the naengmyeon was spicy, sweet, and so delicious, haha. After a bite or two, it just disappeared.. If you’re wondering which noodles to get, I recommend the bibim naengmyeon🕊️
Zucchini doenjang stew ₩5,000

My boyfriend is someone who absolutely has to have doenjang stew when he eats meat, haha, so we ordered the zucchini doenjang stew❤️

It felt a little more like doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup) than a stew(?)! Rather than being deeply rich, it had a clear, clean broth, so it was nice to sip between bites of frozen pork belly, haha.
Fried rice ₩4,000

Adding cheese was ₩2,000, and I hesitated! But we decided to have plain fried rice, so we skipped the cheese, hahaha. Still, it seemed like a flavor that would have gone well with cheese too, haha.

It was delicious, nicely separated fried rice, and it was even better with the well-grilled kimchi🥹 With so many side dishes, we could definitely eat a fuller, more varied meal~ I polished off a bowl of noodles, but then ate rice too.. Me going wild again right after the wedding was over..
So that was my delicious dinner at Taejang Sikdang Suwon Station Branch, a great frozen pork belly spot near Suwon Station~ Recommended for anyone looking for frozen pork belly around Suwon Station✨
