Seocho, Seoul dessert café: four pies taste-tested at Saison de Pie

In short

Saison de Pie is a handmade pie café in a quiet residential alley near Seocho Station in Seoul. Four pies taken to go — apple 8,800 won, blueberry 9,300 won, pecan 7,800 won and Orion 9,700 won — each had its own character: crisp apple, fresh-fruit blueberry, crunchy pecan and deeply chocolatey Orion. Nothing is overly sweet and the crust still held up two days later, so Saison de Pie is a good place to buy several kinds at once.

Handmade pies at Saison de Pie

A pie place near Seocho Station that makes proper pies with good ingredients: Saison de Pie. Even with familiar fillings like apple, blueberry, and pecan, every pie had its own personality — texture and aroma fully alive. This is the kind of hidden neighborhood pie shop where the crust stays crisp without getting soggy, the fruit is fresh, the nuts are nutty, and every ingredient holds its own while staying in harmony, so picking several kinds never feels repetitive. Good for grabbing dessert for yourself or as a gift — Saison de Pie, a hidden gem near Seocho Station.

Where is Saison de Pie, and what is the café like?

Saison de Pie sits at 48-16 Seocho-daero 40-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, tucked into a quiet residential alley near Seocho Station. The kind of place only insiders know about — quiet and cozy.

There's terrace seating too, so once the weather warms up a bit more it'll be a nice spot to sit outside and relax.

Inside, little decorative pieces are scattered around — kind of like a pie shop out of a fairy tale, and really cute.

The showcase has the pies laid out by type, each with a handwritten description.

Cookies and baked goods are displayed separately too, so I nearly got distracted while trying to pick a pie.

The shop isn't huge, but there's a window bar and about 5 small tables, so it looked like a good spot to order pie and coffee and chat for a while.

Four kinds of pie packed to go

I picked four kinds to take home from Saison de Pie near Seocho Station. Even after sitting in the fridge for a day or two, the leftovers didn't get soggy — so I'd really recommend buying several kinds to share. If you only try one, you'll definitely regret not getting another flavor too.

What each pie tasted like

I mentioned it would take about an hour to get home, so they packed two cooler packs into the box — and the pies arrived perfectly intact and delicious.

Apple pie, 8,800 won: the signature, with crisp apple

A slice of apple pie from Saison de Pie

As befits the signature menu, this is the one I reached for first.

Cross-section of apple pie showing thinly layered apples

Usually apple pie has apples cooked down until they're mushy like jam, but this one is different.

Biting into the thinly layered apples, there's still a crisp snap left — a genuinely eye-opening bite!

Apple pie with crisp crust visible

Between the sweetly stewed apples there's still a fresh juiciness, and the crust underneath shatters crisply — the contrast in textures was really good. Crisp apple + crisp crust. Simple, but I kept going back for more haha.

Blueberry pie, 9,300 won: three creams and fresh blueberries

A moist pie with blueberry compote layered with cream cheese cream, mascarpone cream, and yogurt cream.

Blueberry pie with a thick cream layer

The cream layer is quite thick, so I expected the cream to dominate, but the blueberry flavor surprisingly isn't buried.

Fresh blueberries topping the pie

The fresh blueberries on top weren't mushy at all — plump and springy, like they'd just been rinsed and placed on.

After the rich nuttiness of the cream cheese comes the yogurt's light tang, and the blueberries burst with a sweet-tart pop. Eating it together with the crust below, it never feels like just cream — the balance is spot on.

Pecan pie, 7,800 won: the best match with coffee

The signature pâte brisée pie with maple syrup, honey, butter, and pecans.

Cross-section of pecan pie packed with pecans

The cross-section is packed with pecans — a place that doesn't skimp on ingredients. The pecans on top stay crunchy, not soggy, while the inside is slightly sticky and chewy from the maple and honey.

The butter and roasted-nut aroma is strong, but the sweetness is less than I expected, which I liked. The bottom crust stays crisp too, so you get chewy, crunchy, and crisp all in one bite. Personally, this was the best match with coffee.

Orion pie, 9,700 won: the sweetest, most chocolatey of the four

Orion pie topped with chocolate ganache

A combination of salted caramel, hazelnut, Maldon salt, 73% chocolate ganache, and 53% milk chocolate cream.

Cross-section of Orion pie's chocolate layers

Chocolatey right from the cross-section, and the sweetest of the four. The cream is soft while the ganache is dense and chewy, so each layer delivers a different note of chocolate. The rich ganache hits with cacao first, then the hazelnut's nuttiness and caramel support underneath.

Slice of Orion pie topped with Maldon salt

Every so often the Maldon salt's saltiness cuts through the sweetness, so even with how rich the chocolate is, you keep going back for more. It tastes like Nutella in a way — chocolate lovers will love this one.

Which Saison de Pie pie is worth buying?

Eating all four together, what I liked most about Saison de Pie wasn't just that they don't skimp on ingredients, but that they let every ingredient's flavor come through fully. The apple was crisp, the blueberry tasted like fresh fruit, the pecan had a nutty richness, and the Orion had a clear chocolate-and-hazelnut flavor.

Overall the sweetness wasn't overdone, giving it a refined taste that even adults would like, so eating several kinds together never got tiring. Between the two of us, we actually finished all four in two days..

I'm definitely rebuying the pecan and blueberry pies, and I want to try the others too. Every pie has its own character, which makes this a memorable place — Saison de Pie, the dessert café near Seocho Station where I discovered a genuinely good dessert after a long time.
