Jambon jalapeño salt bread at Reelbakers, a Tanbang-dong bakery café
In short
Reelbakers is a plant-filled bakery café in Tanbang-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. On a visit with her mom, the writer tried the jambon jalapeño salt bread (₩4,500) and the heart pistachio pastry (₩6,500) with an americano and a Reel cream latte, and found the bread prices easy on the wallet at ₩3,000–7,000. For a Tanbang-dong café that delivers on both atmosphere and bread, Reelbakers is worth the trip.

Reelbakers: a Tanbang-dong café with great vibes for a day out with mom
Reelbakers is famous in Tanbang-dong, Daejeon as a 'feel-good café' — but it's not just about the vibe, it's also known as a bakery hotspot. So I went with my mom for a little date.

The moment we walked in, I couldn't help but say "ooh, the vibe is nice~" The lush green plant interior, pretty furniture, and lighting all made the atmosphere even better. Definitely a feel-good café!

Reelbakers seating and the pet-friendly terrace
Reelbakers has 2-seat and 4-seat tables plus group seating for around 6, and it looked like you could push tables together if needed :)! It was so crowded inside I couldn't get a shot until right before we left.
Reelbakers isn't a pet-friendly café inside, but the outdoor terrace seats welcome customers with dogs. There was a super cute dog on the way in 🐶 — I spent a while watching it through the big glass window. This is what they call 'healing without owning a dog'~

Reelbakers menu board and bread prices (₩3,000–7,000)
Looking at the Reelbakers menu, there's a good variety to suit any taste — coffee, lattes, tea, smoothies. I'm a die-hard iced americano person, so I got that; mom went for a latte!

True to its reputation as a bakery café, there was a wide variety of bread, and I liked that the prices weren't steep — ₩3,000 to ₩7,000! These days you walk into a café and the bread alone racks up a huge bill, so this was a relief 👍🏻 They follow a same-day-baked, same-day-discarded policy, so the bread is always fresh, and they use Lescure butter with Charentes-Poitou AOP certification, which apparently gives it a rich, deep flavor.

Oh! They also had the trendy 'wakppu' salt bread (a stuffed salt bread variation) in the fridge case. The bread can be warmed up in a mini oven, and they mark which breads are oven-safe, so keep that in mind~

What we ordered at Reelbakers
- Heart Pistachio — ₩6,500
- Jambon Jalapeño Salt Bread — ₩4,500
- Americano — ₩4,800
- Reel Cream Latte — ₩6,500

Heart pistachio, ₩6,500: crisp shell, soft cream inside
The Heart Pistachio, which seemed to be a new item, was ₩6,500. There was exactly one left, and my mom snatched it onto the tray the second she saw it. She'd said she wanted something soft after a dental appointment that morning, then picked the item that looked the hardest on the outside... mom, really? But the moment I cut into it, I got it immediately — wow, this is actually so soft! The cream packed inside is soft and sweet, but not overly sweet, so it's delicious. Good pick, Madam Jo •••🧑🏻🩵

Jambon jalapeño salt bread, ₩4,500: spicy, salty and savory
This is the one I picked — jambon jalapeño salt bread 🥐 ₩4,500. With jalapeño and sliced ham inside, it's spicy with a slight saltiness and a nice savory note — delicious. Maybe it tasted even better because I ate it right after the heart pistachio, but no, I don't think that's it... even on its own it was just a great salt bread ✨🫶🏻 I really wanted just one more bite, but I held back because of my diet.

Reel cream latte and americano at Reelbakers
The Reel Cream Latte (₩6,500) and iced americano (₩4,800) we ordered with the bread were also delicious. The cream latte especially had such soft, sweet cream that it went down smoothly and paired well with the coffee's slight bitterness. Eaten alongside the bread, it was a perfect match ☕️🤎

Reelbakers also sells its own merch
Inside Reelbakers they also sell merchandise, and it's so cutely made... (⁎⁍̴̀﹃ ⁍̴́⁎)♡ Owner, you could run an idol merch business with this stuff!
I also captured the Reelbakers mood on video. It was so crowded I couldn't film everything, but even just this much gives you a sense of the great vibe, don't you think?
Is Reelbakers worth a visit in Tanbang-dong?
If you're looking for a feel-good café in Tanbang-dong, a great-vibe café in Tanbang-dong, or a salt bread spot in Tanbang-dong, go to Reelbakers. Highly recommend!!!
