Danyang market chicken restaurant for car camping night snack
In short
Danyang Heukmaneul Nurungji Dakgangjeong is a black garlic rice-crust fried chicken takeout spot in Danyang Guyeong Market, Chungbuk. After a 40-minute wait on a Saturday night, the writer picked up the double black garlic flavor and black garlic makgeolli to eat as a late-night snack at the car camping site, finding sauce-soaked nurungji, chewy chicken, lotus root fritters and potato all packed in. A good late-night meal for two adults who love garlic's spicy kick.

This is the last food review from my Danyang trip this week! It's Danyang Heukmaneul Nurungji Dakgangjeong, a famous dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken) spot in Danyang Guyeong Market : )

How long is the wait on a Saturday night?
Danyang Heukmaneul Nurungji Dakgangjeong is known for its long waits in Guyeong Market. My visit took about 40 minutes haha. Still, they said we could take our time and come back to pick it up after ordering, so I wandered around the market and went to get it later.

I went to Danyang Guyeong Market on a Saturday night to buy black garlic nurungji dakgangjeong, and sure enough there was a long line. I was a little worried whether I'd be able to buy it after waiting, but they said we could take a number and step away, so I ordered first.
There are two types: original nurungji dakgangjeong and the double black garlic flavor, and I chose the double black garlic flavor. I picked it because they said you can enjoy the rich taste of black garlic that you can only get in Danyang~~~~!

Original vs. double black garlic — which to choose?
The original is said to be the familiar dakgangjeong flavor we're all used to, but topped with black garlic so you can enjoy the chicken and black garlic together. It's supposed to let you enjoy black garlic's subtle flavor : )
The double black garlic flavor is, as the name says, loaded with black garlic — it's really just a full-on garlic chicken flavor. The double flavor is a bit spicy, so it's hard to share with kids! It's a flavor only adults can really enjoy.
If you like garlic and enjoy its spicy kick, I recommend the double flavor!
If not, I recommend the original!

Black garlic makgeolli for the car camping night snack
Black garlic makgeolli (rice wine), which is said to pair well with dakgangjeong. We were car camping in Danyang~ Since we bought the black garlic nurungji dakgangjeong as a night snack for the trip, we chose black garlic makgeolli as the drink to go with it.
Danyang is famous for garlic, so it seems garlic-based desserts, drinks, and dishes are really well developed here!

After a long wait, we finally got our hands on the Danyang Heukmaneul Nurungji Dakgangjeong (double flavor) from the famous Danyang Guyeong Market spot, along with black garlic makgeolli.
Dakgangjeong is tasty even when it cools down, so we set up a spot late and ate it~ Oh? The nurungji soaked in the chicken's sauce was chewy, and the dakgangjeong itself was extremely chewy and delicious.

Nurungji, lotus root fritters, and potato all included
Not just nurungji and chicken but lotus root fritters and potato were included too, so this delicious black garlic nurungji dakgangjeong from Danyang Guyeong Market let us enjoy a variety of ingredients. Spicy and sweet thanks to the garlic! It was even tastier because the spiciness came from garlic, not chili powder.

Pouring the black garlic makgeolli into paper cups at the car camping site at night~ It had a sharp, sweet taste that we enjoyed a lot^^ Oh~! The makgeolli is delicious too. So sweet~!
Taking home the dakgangjeong alone is great, but pairing it with black garlic makgeolli, made from Danyang's specialty garlic, makes for an even better late-night snack time, I think. Of course, it also seems like a good gift item!

Too much for two people to finish
Since it was just the two of us, we couldn't finish the generous portion of dakgangjeong we bought from Danyang Guyeong Market. We carefully saved the leftovers and ate them happily in the car on the way home~ It was still chewy and delicious even after time had passed.
Eating it in the car on the drive back, I found myself wishing I had packed an extra box for other family members. Next time I visit, I'll have to get some for the family too.
