Dog-friendly Danyang café tries garlic bingsu with espresso: JB Coffee
In short
JB Coffee is a dog-friendly café and dessert shop on Byeolgok 12-gil in Danyang, Chungbuk, known for its garlic-shaped bingsu (shaved ice). A family of three ordered strawberry, banana and melon flavors, tried pouring espresso over the shaved ice like grown-ups, and even tasted the garlic-shaped white chocolate hidden inside. With dogs welcome indoors and figurines to admire, it made a great spot to escape the summer heat while traveling in Danyang.

Hi everyone, it's Cheese Mom the cat lady.
While escaping the heat on our Danyang trip, we stopped by JB Coffee, a Danyang bingsu (shaved ice) spot, for a quirky dessert :) It's a café we ran into while traveling in Danyang, and it serves some genuinely unusual desserts.

A Danyang café where dogs can come inside too
This café serves desserts you can only find in Danyang, so it was somewhere I really wanted to visit~ Since it's a dog-friendly café, it has both indoor and outdoor spaces.
JB Coffee's exterior has a stylish design, but the inside really shows off the owner's personal taste too~ From the warm lighting to the various figurines, there was plenty of fun stuff to look at.

For reference, this place lets you bring your dog inside without a separate cage or carrier bag, not just outside :) So many people travel with their dogs these days, so a place like this is exactly what you need if you're looking for a dog-friendly café.
Sambong Bingsu and Garlic Bingsu: how we ordered for three
JB Coffee's menu! Since this is a café in Danyang, the garlic-shaped Sambong Bingsu and Garlic Bingsu immediately catch your eye! These are JB Coffee's signature bingsu.

The colorful Sambong Bingsu is so cute, and the single-piece Garlic Bingsu is really cute too. The flavors are banana, strawberry, and melon~ There were three of us, so we each ordered a different flavor.
The Sambong Bingsu is a bit cheaper, but since we were eating with our kid, we ordered differently so the kid could just have the bingsu without the coffee poured on top^^

A look that recreates a whole garlic bulb and peeled cloves
A little while after ordering, the owner personally brought us this adorable garlic dessert, worthy of Danyang's bingsu fame — ta-da!!!!! Wow... it's a bingsu that really looks exactly like garlic, haha. And underneath that garlic-shaped sherbet was garlic-clove-shaped white chocolate too.

It looked so exactly like real garlic that I was genuinely surprised~~~ The look recreates both a whole bulb and peeled cloves, haha. It was such a fun, unusual dessert, so fitting for the garlic capital^^ It tasted great too — I wanted to give it a 10 out of 10.
What happens when you pour espresso on top? A fancy version of a melting bingsu bar
Our kid had strawberry, I had banana, and my husband had melon~ Oh... now I get why you're supposed to pour coffee on it! It tasted like a fancy version of a classic melting ice cream bar~~

It wasn't just a regular ice cream bar taste — the aroma was so good and the sweetness really chased the heat away.
It felt totally different from just pouring a shot over regular ice cream. The sherbet itself tasted great on its own too. So cool and sweet!
Pouring the espresso on turned it into a fancy dessert just for adults~ It was my first time trying a combination like this, and I was amazed someone came up with the idea. The garlic-shaped white chocolate was really delicious too. Thumbs up!!
Sunset atmosphere, second floor for next time
We had our desserts and looked around at the figurines that make up JB Coffee's unique interior~ Such a great day. As it got darker outside, the atmosphere actually got even better for a visit!

I went when the second floor was already closed for the day, so I didn't get to drink there, but I'd love to come back sometime and enjoy the coffee or bingsu in that upstairs atmosphere :) I feel like I'll end up in Danyang again somehow.

As always, I think the real joy of traveling is hunting down the local food spots. Danyang has so many great restaurants that I was busy just eating my way through, haha.
I hope you enjoyed this review of what I thought was garlic but turned out to be dessert. Here's the info for anyone curious about JB Coffee, Danyang's bingsu spot, so you can use it for your visit.
