Hi, this is Nori! I was looking for good restaurants in Namak to grab dinner with a friend when I found the newly opened Ubokgeum Saenggalbi Mokpo Namak Branch.
Since their signature dish is beef fresh ribs, I tried that first — but ended up adding pork fresh ribs too and enjoying it thoroughly haha. Here's my review of this Namak BBQ spot where I feasted on both beef and pork ribs!

Where is it? The restaurant street across from the Namak provincial complex
Ubokgeum Saenggalbi Mokpo Namak Branch sits on the strip of restaurants across from the provincial government building in Namak.

The restaurant is a big corner spot, so even though it was my first time there, I found it easily!
Inside Ubokgeum Saenggalbi: private rooms and group tables
The place was bigger and cleaner than I expected. Sometimes at BBQ restaurants the floor gets sticky or slippery from grease, but here the floor was spotless — I liked it the moment I walked in.
The overall vibe was clean and uncluttered, so it felt comfortable eating there with a friend,

and besides the hall tables, there were also private rooms and group seating, so it looked like a great spot for family gatherings or work dinners too.

Signature beef fresh ribs, 500g for 58,000 won
I did a ton of research before coming to Ubokgeum Saenggalbi lol, so as soon as I arrived I ordered their signature beef fresh ribs.

While the meat was being prepped, we got the basic table setting — side dishes that pair well with grilled meat and a soft steamed egg dish as a basic side, which was so nice haha.

And finally, today's star arrived — the beef fresh ribs...!!!! At 500g for ₩58,000, the price is a bit on the higher side.
I figured 500g would mean a huge portion, but since it's a rib cut with bone weight included, it didn't look as massive as I expected lol. Still, once I actually started eating, it turned out to be plenty!

Staff grill every piece at your table
And the best part about Ubokgeum Saenggalbi! The staff grill the meat for you.
At BBQ restaurants, someone always has to keep grilling, which can get annoying — but here the staff handle it, so there's no worrying about burning the meat, and you can just relax and chat while eating.

All I had to do was eat this glistening, glossy meat lol. The beef ribs had that signature rich juiciness and fat, super savory, and since it's a bone-in rib cut, the texture had a nice bite to it.

I dipped it in the special sauce,

and also tried it with lettuce and scallion salad. Just eating beef fresh ribs felt like it was missing something, so in the end we added a half plate of pork fresh ribs.

Adding pork fresh ribs, a half plate of 270g for 21,000 won
At 270g for ₩21,000, it was actually cheaper than most pork belly these days,

but the taste was absolutely not cheap.
It had a moderately fatty but chewy texture, without the heavy greasiness of pork belly, so it was easy to eat without feeling weighed down. Honestly, of everything I ate that day, the pork fresh ribs surprisingly stuck with me the most — I'm glad I added them lol.

Free soy sauce marinated crab, and a bowl of rice to finish
Between the beef ribs, pork ribs, and beer, we were already having a full feast — and then suddenly they brought out free soy-marinated crab as a service item.
I'd actually debated whether to order rice and decided against it, but how can you not eat rice with soy crab!!!!

So we ended up ordering a bowl of rice after all, polished off the soy crab, and left completely stuffed and satisfied haha.
