[Hwamyeong-dong BBQ restaurant][Hwamyeong-dong dinner, family outing]
I heard there's a BBQ place in Hwamyeong-dong where the meat comes out already grilled, so I rushed right over! 🫡 When you're out with a kid, any place that grills the meat for you — or better yet, brings it out fully grilled — is a total win!! lol No fussing over the grill, just eat as soon as it lands, so convenient 💗 Especially with a kid in tow, this kind of place is honestly the best?!
Welcome to "Go Ok-hui Hwamyeong Main Branch," the Hwamyeong-dong spot known for pre-grilled meat 🙌

The interior is totally spotless ✨ Overall clean and pleasant. There were about 8 tables! Not a huge BBQ restaurant, but the spacing between tables didn't feel cramped at all!
Menu and set composition at Go Ok-hui

After ordering the set, you can also add à la carte items! Ordering the Go Ok-hui set lets you try a variety of meats all at once,,,😛 We ordered the small set (plain pork belly + gochujang-marinated pork + mild pork skin) + spicy pork skin + steamed egg + rice + fried rice 💗

The basic side dishes came out as pickled radish, kimchi, seasoned shiitake, myeong-i namul (wild garlic leaves), and scallion salad — all great to pair with the meat! Nicely and neatly served side dishes that go well one by one with the meat.

What's great about going with a kid, and the liver supplement
Kids' rice is free for under age 6! And when we ordered soju, they even gave us a liver supplement along with it. So many thoughtful little touches at restaurants these days!! (Gotta drink!!!ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ but gotta take care of the liver too,,,🤣)

The meat comes fully grilled from the kitchen
The meat gets grilled up deliciously in the kitchen the moment you order it 🔥 While the meat is being grilled, the table gets scallions, potato, bracken, rice cake, and mushrooms grilling first!

And here they've got sauces on the table for enjoying with both the pork belly and the pork skin! Mayonnaise, soybean powder, salt, and even curry powder — I don't need to pick just one,,ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I like them all so I eat them all 🤣🤣

The fluffy steamed egg also came out! Steamed egg while eating out is just so good

Our order arrived ෆෆ From the set we picked the mild pork skin, and since we were curious about the spicy version too, we added that à la carte! And since our little one had to eat too, and I was curious about the basic pork flavor, I ordered plain pork belly as well ^,^ The fully grilled meat gets poured right onto a low-heat pan so it stays warm!!

How the plain pork belly and gochujang-marinated pork tasted
Since it comes fully grilled, you can eat right away! The meats overall had that great crispy-outside, juicy-inside texture!! The marinated meat had its own charm with a deeply soaked-in sauce flavor! A bit spicy and sweet at the same time — amazing with a wrap and the sauce ✨

The signature pork skin: mild vs. spicy
I tried it the recommended way written on the table too! With so many sauces and side dishes to pair, this time I mixed and matched my own way. So many eating combinations, no chance of getting bored!!
The pork skin is thick and hearty. They say it's Go Ok-hui's signature pork skin — tasting it, the seasoning is sweet and spicy. I liked the spicy version a bit more than the mild one, more of a kick 🫧 The chewiness unique to pork skin really comes through.

Finishing with self-serve fried rice and doenjang jjigae
I haven't been eating much rice lately, but that day I was so craving carbs somehow,,,ㅋㅋㅋ so I confidently ordered the self-serve fried rice too! Topped it off with a cracked egg 🥚 at the end. The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was also packed with tofu and full-flavored. A hot, rich spoonful of doenjang stew followed by a bite of fried rice — the combo was perfect together 😛 Nice to end the meal solidly with rice ㅋ.ㅋ💗

On the way out I noticed hand cream, mouthwash, candy, yogurt, and even tissues! A whole bunch of small thoughtful touches for customers finishing their meal! Total top marks for thoughtfulness. Eating the meat happily and then grabbing a yogurt on the way out made for a great finish ㅋㅋㅋ💗

Why I'd recommend this for a family meal in Hwamyeong-dong
After eating well, we even took a walk in the nearby park before heading home~ 🌿💗
The biggest appeal of Go Ok-hui, a Hwamyeong-dong favorite, was definitely that the meat comes fully grilled! No need to fuss with grilling — just eat while it's hot — which made it convenient for us to come here for a family meal with a kid ^,^
Seemed like a lot of office workers from nearby come here too! By the time we left it was almost full, with what looked like an even mix of office workers and families out for a meal. No lingering meat smell on your clothes either — clean and pleasant. I'd recommend Go Ok-hui Hwamyeong Main Branch, a Hwamyeong-dong favorite!
