While looking for somewhere to eat out this weekend, I visited Sonja Hanwoo Rosgui, a Korean beef spot in Yeonsan-dong, Busan!
Sonja Hanwoo Rosgui Yeonsan-dong flagship / Hours 17:00 – 23:30 / No parking
How do you book a table for Saturday dinner?
Sonja Hanwoo Rosgui is a well-known Korean beef restaurant in Yeonsan-dong. We visited on a Saturday evening after booking through Naver Reservation, but you can also join the waitlist through Catch Table ✔

Since we booked ahead, our table was already neatly set when we arrived, which was nice~ If you're going on a weekend, booking ahead means no waiting and a much smoother visit, so keep that in mind ✔ I kept noticing how attentive the staff were even while busy.

What do you get with the Sonja Platter, ₩59,900?
We ordered the Sonja Platter 🥓, the set with three cuts of hanwoo rosgui plus yukhoe. Korean beef BBQ and yukhoe together for ₩59,900 — such great value!

Fresh yukhoe came out first as soon as we ordered. Turns out Sonja Hanwoo Rosgui's yukhoe is a hidden gem too~ 😋 It wasn't over-seasoned, and the combination of nutty sesame oil, sweet pear, and yukhoe was delicious!

Staff grill it for you: the 'Sonja method'
At Sonja Hanwoo Rosgui, staff grill the beef to perfection for you. They placed each piece on our small plates and kindly walked us through the best way to enjoy it!

The 'Sonja method' the staff explained for enjoying the hanwoo rosgui was even illustrated in photos on display, haha.

Maybe because the sesame oil was so good, but for us dipping it in the oil-salt sauce was the tastiest way. Of course, the squid jeotgal (salted squid) side dish that came with it was amazing too!

We also tried wrapping the hanwoo rosgui with yukhoe in lettuce, and it was really delicious! If you visit and love yukhoe, you have to try this.

The combination of bean sprouts, white kimchi, and potato served alongside the hanwoo rosgui was great too. It reminded me of sukiyaki I had in Japan, which made for a really fun dinner 😊

Added on: hanwoo chadol and buckwheat noodles to finish
Among the hanwoo rosgui cuts, the hanwoo chadol (beef brisket) was our favorite, so we added a serving. When we asked for more vegetables, they refilled and grilled those for us too.

To finish the meal, we ordered grandma's perilla buckwheat noodles in the mild spice level 🤎 The noodles come with adjustable spice, so you can go spicy too! We mixed in the leftover yukhoe and it was the ultimate in nuttiness,, 👍🏻

Sesame oil and perilla oil set sold in-store
Sonja Hanwoo Rosgui, a Korean beef spot in Yeonsan-dong, was some of the best beef my husband and I have had in a while, and we were both really satisfied. Since we tried and loved the sesame oil and perilla oil set sold at the restaurant, I bought it myself with my own money!
The Yeongdo Grandma's sesame oil and perilla oil set sold at the store can be purchased by simply asking staff after your meal. You can buy the set like I did, or each bottle separately, which would also make a nice light gift for a friend.

Who is this good for?
The atmosphere is clean and cozy, so it's great for a date as well as gatherings with friends or family meals out~ If you're looking for a Korean beef restaurant in Yeonsan-dong that nails both value and flavor, I'd recommend visiting Sonja Hanwoo Rosgui's Yeonsan-dong flagship!
