Andeok, Jeju black pork lunch special: 400g with stew and egg custard

I've eaten black pork all over the place during my month living in Jeju, and this time I went to Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon Shinhwa World Branch, which is —

honestly the best black pork I've had in Jeju so far.

We were actually out playing at Shinhwa World and looking for a black pork place nearby that would be easy to visit with a baby. The price was reasonable, the meat was delicious, and above all, the meal itself was so easy — I was so satisfied!!!

What comes with the 55,000-won lunch special for two?

We ordered the 2-person lunch set at Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon Shinhwa World Branch for ₩55,000. It includes black pork 400g + black pork stew + 2 bowls of rice + egg custard + a drink or non-alcoholic beer...! Have you ever seen a lunch set like this? Seriously.

Ordering black pork in Jeju gets pricey even if you just order the meat alone. Being able to get a full meal for ₩55,000 for two people — I don't think it gets better value than that, haha. Especially with a lunch set menu, families traveling with a baby like us don't need to order a bunch of separate dishes, which makes things even easier!!!

Why you never touch the grill at Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon

What I liked most about Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon was not having to grill the meat myself. I was curious about the owner's initial grilling process so I went over to watch, and he cut the meat by cut and explained each one to me 🖤

When you're with a baby, you're already busy grilling meat, feeding the kid, and juggling everything — no time to think... Here, the owner pre-grills the thick cuts of black pork by cut, then fully grills them until ready to eat and brings them straight to the table, which was such a relief 😭 (Small tip: most other places only do the pre-grilling stage.)

You just get it served and eat right away, which turns out to be a huge plus when visiting with a baby. And the taste — the moment I took a bite, I said out loud, "why is this black pork so good?" haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing that's unique to this place: when grilling the pork belly (ogyeopsal), they cut off the fatty part and grill it separately like skin (gyeopdegi). That must be a lot of extra work, but the owner is clearly very serious about his meat :)

Keep in mind that the glass noodle cucumber salad, black pork stew, and octopus seafood ramyeon (jjukkumi haemul ramyeon) are only available at the Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon Shinhwa World Branch.

There's one more thing that makes Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon extra convenient — they offer a pickup/drop-off service 👀‼️ If you're coming from nearby golf courses, pensions, or Shinhwa World, you can use the pickup/drop-off service and enjoy some soju with your black pork without worrying about driving. Really handy, haha.

Is Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon easy to visit with a baby?

Above all, we visited with our baby and this was one of the easiest meals we've had. Not having to grill the meat ourselves, getting rice and egg custard served alongside, and not having to frantically flip meat at the table made everything so relaxed haha. If you've been hesitant about taking your kid out for black pork worrying it'll be exhausting, this place is really optimized for families ✨

Looking for a black pork restaurant near Shinhwa World in Jeju? I highly recommend Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon Shinhwa World Branch!!!!! The ₩55,000 lunch set for two was great value, but in the end what stuck with me most was the taste of the meat 💖

Out of all the black pork I've had in Jeju, this was personally the best, and I really hope you try the savory, chewy neck meat (mokdeokjisal) at least once haha. It's easy to visit with a baby, and with the pickup/drop-off service, anyone with plans nearby should definitely consider a visit :)
