A 5-minute drive from Shinhwa World: booking a 5:30pm table

Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon Shinhwa World Branch is a 5-minute drive from Jeju Shinhwa World, so after happily browsing Jeju Shinhwa World and the Shinsegae Jeju Premium Outlets, we showed up around 5:30pm for dinner haha. Reservation made ahead of time. I visited this place last February and it was so good I came back as a campaign guest~~🎶👍 They even have pickup service~🚙🚙 Good to know!!!

What the name Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon means

Group seating for a party of four

At first the name was hard to parse, but once I realized it means you can experience both Jeju black pork and white pork in one place, it clicked haha 😁 hahaha. Inside there's even group seating, big enough for a whole extended family‼️ When we visited, they were seating a big group hahaha. And as I mentioned, with pickup available too, if your accommodation is near Shinhwa World you can drink to your heart's content🙏😁🔥

Hours are 11:30–22:30, last order 21:10, closed every Tuesday.

What four people ordered, and what it cost

There were four of us, so we ordered black pork geungogi (600g) (neck + belly) (₩66,000) + white pork belly 600g (₩57,000) + kimchi stew with rice (₩9,000)~~~🔥 Bottom line: this amount left all 4 of us full. Total success 👍👍 haha

Since we had a reservation, the table was set up like this when we arrived~~🔥 We were starving so we started attacking the side dishes the moment we sat down~~🔥

The free glass noodle and cucumber salad, same as last year

Among the side dishes, the complimentary dangmyeon-ogimuchim (glass noodle and cucumber salad) was just as good as last year 😆 haha. Sweet and tangy, and eating it with the thick glass noodles is such a treat..😆 We immediately got the urge to drink, so we ordered makgeolli and beer 🍺 hahaha. A refreshing drink before the meat even arrives~!🍺

Kimchi stew made with black pork

We also ordered the kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) loaded with kimchi and black pork — very satisfying❣️ The broth was nice and spicy~~ I polished off a whole bowl of rice with it no problem🔚

The great thing about Heukdonsibaekdonmyeon is that they pre-grill the meat for you, so it's really easy to eat👍👍 They started with the neck meat, with the owner personally explaining each cut as it arrived~~🚚 The neck meat looks thick in photos, but it's actually completely tender~~~ It melted in my mouth the moment I ate it!!!!! So good~❣️

They brought out the black pork belly cut by cut, so we happily kept popping different pieces into our mouths 😋 hahaha. Every cut was tender, had no gamy smell, and tasted great.. This must be why people seek out black pork restaurants when they come to Jeju, right? Impossible to stop eating😆 hahaha

Black pork vs white pork: can you taste the difference?

Next came the Jeju white pork~~ I thought I wouldn't be able to tell black pork and white pork apart, but eating them side by side, they really were different hahaha. Among our group, opinions split — some said white pork was better, some said black pork was better — so we just concluded they're both delicious.. Final verdict‼️ hahaha. Writing this now and reminiscing, I want to eat it again.. hahahaTT TT

Ordering it this way turned out to be the perfect amount for four of us to eat well haha
