Warm oden and draft beer, great vibe and great food at this Sinnonhyeon bar 🍢🍻🍶
This time I visited Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch! I paired regular oden and cheese oden with draft beer, then had cheese balls and tomato grilled with sugar on top — everything was delicious and I left satisfied. When you want warm soupy food but also want something light to pick at, this kind of oden bar combo is perfect haha. Sharing a photo-filled review for anyone looking for a Gangnam Station bar or a Sinnonhyeon Station bar!
Where Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch is, and what the terrace feels like
Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch is an izakaya with terrace seating on the first floor of a building on Seochodae-ro 73-gil. The wood-toned sign and the tables inside catch your eye right away, and since the entrance is open, you get a sense of the vibe even from outside.
There's a draft beer event too — Cass draft beer for ₩2,900 Sunday through Thursday until 7 PM!! Rather than the dark, quiet feel you might expect from an izakaya, it has a relaxed atmosphere under warm lighting, perfect for enjoying food. It seemed like a great spot for friends or couples to sit and chat over food haha.
Even though it was a Sunday, the place was packed so I couldn't get great photos, but inside there are long bench-style seats and regular tables, and it really has that distinctive oden bar warmth,,!! Perfect place to enjoy in this kind of weather!
They're also running a receipt review event, and the restroom was marked on the order screen, which was convenient haha.
The Odeng Osaek menu and what we ordered
The menu is really varied, right..? Odeng Osaek isn't just oden — there are plenty of side dishes to pair with it too, so I think it's great to add something chewy alongside the warm broth! This kind of izakaya has that oden bar feel but also has plenty of filling sides, so it's a good bar to come to even if you're hungry!!! We were already too full, so we ordered regular oden, cheese oden, cheese balls, and sugar tomato brûlée!
2,900-won Cass draft beer and the free crackers and tuna
Since it was before 7, we started light with the ₩2,900 Cass draft beer 🍻 The basic side dish is crackers and tuna, and honestly this combo is such a treat! So good with beer before the real food arrives~.~ You can easily knock back a glass of beer with just this basic side!!
Cheese balls that taste like mochi donuts
Cheese balls. Odeng Osaek's cheese balls aren't like the BHC cheese balls we usually eat these days — they taste like a mochi donut with cheese inside! Chewy, savory, and rich, just right! Great beer snack. I also liked that the cheese powder for dipping came on the side so you could adjust to your taste.
Regular oden broth versus cheese oden
The pot arrives with piping hot broth and oden! First off, the broth is so refreshing and spicy..🤍 The oden was also nice and chewy, really hit the spot!! We came to an oden bar even though we were full, and I thought — glad we did haha. It'll probably taste even better once the weather gets colder..?
Cheese oden never disappoints. You could really taste the cheese, and the oden wasn't dry at all, so good 🧀💛 Thick and chewy with a nice bite to it..
Ending with sugar tomato brûlée
Last was the sugar tomato brûlée! After all that oden and cheese balls, having something sweet and tangy come in made me keep eating without stopping 🥺 There's even cabbage with it, so eating it together felt kind of like eating a burger haha.
