A Daeyeon-dong offal spot with Japanese vibes

Today I'm sharing my visit to Ami Yanggopchang, located in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan.

It's a place where you can try several cuts — makchang, daechang, gopchang, and yeomtong — all in one sitting, and the staff grill everything from start to finish, so it was really easy to just sit back and eat!

Close to Kyungsung Univ.·Pukyong National Univ. Station

Ami Yanggopchang is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station on Busan Metro Line 2.

You'll find it in the second alley behind Daeyeon-dong Women's Center — the warm wood exterior and red signage made it easy to spot.

For those driving, there are 2 free parking spots total: 1 in the restaurant's own lot and 1 in front of the store.

A dining room that feels like real Japan

Walking through the door, an exotic atmosphere unfolded that reminded me of an actual yakiniku restaurant in Japan.

Wood-toned tables blended cozily with dark walls, and the space was full of charming little details — Japanese-style posters, Kirin draft beer decor, maneki-neko cats, daruma dolls, and a vintage telephone.

It was genuinely fun to look around, and photo-friendly too — a great choice if you're after a restaurant in Daeyeon-dong with a different kind of atmosphere.

Each table had its own individual ventilation system, and there were comfortable sofa seats along the wall.

Groups of up to 10 are welcome, so it seemed like a good spot for gatherings with friends or a work dinner.

30 years of meat expertise and special menu items

Ami Yanggopchang is run by an owner with 30 years of experience working with meat.

They use a special sauce learned directly in Japan, and even roast their own lemon-scented salt in-house — the attention to detail was noticeable.

Beyond makchang, daechang, and Korean beef gopchang, they also offer cuts you don't often see, like Korean beef tongue, yakiniku-style rib meat, Iberico pork neck and pluma, and Kobe beef.

Quality certificates for 100% full-blood wagyu shirokin were displayed inside and outside the restaurant, which said a lot about their pride in the meat they serve.

A complimentary fluffy egg custard

While waiting for the meat to cook, we also got to enjoy a hot, bubbling steamed egg custard.

This soft, fluffy egg custard is served free of charge and was a nice warm bite to start the meal. It's a complimentary dish that can't be ordered separately, so I'd recommend eating it while it's still hot!

There were also plenty of side dishes — seasoned lettuce salad, pickles, garlic, and assorted pickled vegetables — that paired nicely with the meat throughout the meal.

Ordering three servings of the mixed platter

Our group ordered three servings of the mixed offal platter.

The mixed platter is ₩20,000 per 150g serving, letting you evenly enjoy makchang, daechang, gopchang, and yeomtong all together.

Just a heads up — gopchang is only included in orders of 2 servings or more.

The various cuts came out generously piled on a large plate, along with potato, king oyster mushroom, and green peppers on the side.

Overall, the prep was clean, and the meat looked appetizing right away with sauce evenly coating it and a glossy sheen.

Grilled for you, start to finish

What I liked most was that the staff grilled absolutely everything from start to finish!

Makchang, daechang, gopchang, and yeomtong each cook at different speeds and need different levels of doneness.

The staff carefully watched each cut, cut it into bite-sized pieces, and grilled it to the most delicious point — it made the meal so easy.

Once a piece was done, they'd move it onto a small wire rack beside the grill.

That way, there was no worry about anything burning or overcooking — we could just pick up whichever piece was ready to eat right away.

Since we didn't have to flip anything or check for doneness ourselves, we could just talk with each other and focus fully on the meal.

Grill with mixed offal platter being cooked by staff

A mixed platter made better by its variety

The nicely browned daechang had a slightly crisp exterior with rich, savory fat inside, while the gopchang was chewy with a moist center.

The makchang had an appealing crunchy, springy texture, and the yeomtong was mild and tender enough that I kept reaching for more.

Honestly, it was hard to pick a favorite — all four cuts were delicious!

The potatoes and king oyster mushrooms, browned in the offal fat, were also a real treat.

Dipping lightly in the special sauce or pairing with the side dishes cut through the richness, so it never felt too heavy even by the end of the meal.

Pairing it all with a cold bottle of Daesun soju was also a great match with the savory offal.

Looking for standout offal in Daeyeon-dong?

Ami Yanggopchang isn't just a place to try many different cuts of offal in one sitting — with staff grilling everything from start to finish, it made for a genuinely relaxed meal.

The exotic yakiniku-style atmosphere and charming decor were memorable, and every cut delivered on both texture and savory flavor.
