Looking for somewhere to have dinner with a drink in Masan Daetgeori, I ended up at Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol.

What we ordered at Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol and what it cost: 29,000 won
What I ordered at Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol was the beef tripe hotpot, small size for two, ₩29,000. That day I was craving simmering tripe in warm broth, so I went straight for the gopchang jeongol (beef tripe hotpot) without much thought.
Given the restaurant's own name centers on gopchang jeongol, it wasn't surprising that the menu board showed beef tripe hotpot and pork seokgalbi (grilled short ribs) as the two main items.

Ordering the small beef tripe hotpot for two

Not long after ordering, the side dishes arrived first, and the tripe hotpot was soon ready too.

Inside the pot were tripe, meat, mushrooms, vegetables, and glass noodles, all topped with a generous heap of enoki mushrooms.

The pot was so packed with ingredients it looked delicious just from the visuals. And on top of that, the owner gave us sundae (blood sausage) and sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) on the house.
Is the spicy broth good with soju?
The broth of Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol's beef tripe hotpot was spicy and rich, making it a great pairing with drinks. A hotpot is really best eaten while it's still simmering. As it started bubbling away, the broth deepened in color and you could see the flavor coming out of the tripe and vegetables.

Dip the tripe in the sauce — savory and clean-tasting, really delicious. Eating the tripe together with the broth made it soft, and fishing out mushrooms and vegetables in between was a nice touch too.

No matter the weather, there's something fun about slowly working through a hotpot kept simmering hot.

Naturally, we ended up pouring ourselves a shot of soju each. Haha.
Free sundae and sujebi, added straight into the broth
The sundae and sujebi we got for free at Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol were simmered right in the hotpot broth. The sujebi turned chewy after a short simmer and matched the broth well, and the sundae was good too once heated through in the warm broth.

We only ordered one tripe hotpot, but with the sundae and sujebi added in, it ended up feeling much more filling than expected.
Why we ordered an extra portion of glass noodles
Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol's beef tripe hotpot already comes with glass noodles included, and maybe because they'd soaked up the broth so well, they tasted better than expected — good enough that we added an extra noodle portion.

And that wasn't even the end. Once we finished the noodles that came with the hotpot, we missed them so much we ended up ordering the extra portion after all.

Adding the noodles back into the broth and simmering them again was just as tasty. At first I thought the small hotpot would be just right for two, but between the tripe, the sundae and sujebi, and the extra noodles, we ended up pretty full.
When you want tripe hotpot in Masan Daetgeori, near Kyungnam University
I'd definitely go back! That day at Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol, we ordered one small beef tripe hotpot for two, worked through the standard glass noodles, added in the free sundae and sujebi, and finished off with an extra noodle portion.
It turned out more filling than I expected, so it worked well as a proper dinner, and the spicy broth also went great with a drink. I noticed pork seokgalbi (grilled short ribs) on the menu board too, so I'd like to try that next time. If you're looking for a tripe hotpot or meat place in Masan Daetgeori, this one's worth checking out.

I saw pork seokgalbi on the menu board, so I should try the meat dishes next time too. If you're looking for tripe hotpot in Masan Daetgeori, or a hot pot and a drink near Gyeongnam National University, keep this place in mind.
