Chicken hot pot set for 2–3 at a Changwon izakaya: Yakitori Gong

Today I'm sharing my review of Yakitori Gong, located in Urban Bricks at Unicity in Changwon!

There are so many restaurants and bars around Changwon Unicity and Urban Bricks that it's often hard to decide where to go, but that evening I was really craving some good grilled skewers! So this time I went to a place where you can properly enjoy yakitori and charcoal grilling.

Where is Yakitori Gong, and is parking free?

Yakitori Gong is on the 3rd floor of the Urban Bricks commercial building, so it was easy to find, and above all, parking was really convenient.

The Urban Bricks parking lot is spacious and pleasant, and you get 3 hours free when you're a customer, so I didn't have to worry about the clock while eating.

What comes in the 19,900-won six-skewer yakitori plate?

As the name Yakitori Gong suggests, yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) is definitely the signature dish here! We ordered the signature 6-piece yakitori set, made up of spring onion chicken thigh, tenderloin, neck, cartilage, heart, and tsukune (chicken meatball), for ₩19,900. Being able to try several parts at once made it the perfect no-brainer order for a first visit.

Even though the skewers cover several different cuts, there was no worry about mixing them up. Each time a skewer came out freshly grilled, the staff kindly explained which cut it was, so I could taste each one knowing its characteristics.

What I liked most was that the skewers aren't grilled ahead of time — you get to enjoy each one hot off the grill! Fresh off the binjangtan (white charcoal) fire, the juices and smoky charcoal aroma really came through while it was still warm, and each cut had a different texture, which made trying them one by one fun.

The outside was grilled to a nice golden brown while the inside stayed moist and well-cooked — genuinely delicious. Especially since they explained the cut and how to eat it every time a skewer came out, I could focus even more on tasting the food.

The tsukune in particular comes with an egg yolk sauce — popping the yolk and dipping the skewer in it like a sauce added a soft, savory richness. The moist, well-grilled tsukune paired really well with the yolk.

Chicken hot pot set for 2–3 people: what you get for 29,000 won

Since I also wanted a soupy dish alongside the yakitori, I ordered the 2–3 person set too. It's made up of 3 yakitori skewers plus chicken hot pot, priced at ₩29,000.

The 3 skewers in the set are spring onion chicken thigh, chicken skin, and heart, and they come together with the chicken hot pot, so we got to enjoy several different dishes at once. The chicken hot pot is a spicy dish made with chicken broth simmered for a long time plus a special sauce, and it was packed with bean sprouts for a refreshing flavor.

Best of all, there was a generous amount of glass noodles, so it was fun fishing out the ingredients, and alternating between skewers and warm spoonfuls of broth made for a satisfying combo. Ordering the hot pot alongside the skewers instead of just grilled skewers alone was a really good match haha.

Seating, corkage and baby chairs at Yakitori Gong

With yakitori, charcoal grilling, and a refreshing spicy chicken hot pot all on the menu, this is naturally the kind of place that makes you want a drink! So I thought it would work well as a casual spot for drinks with friends, or as a good Changwon bar for an after-work team dinner. The atmosphere wasn't heavy or intimidating either, making it easy to visit.

There's a bar table and standing seats, plus group seating, so it looked good for drinks with friends or a work dinner. Since it's a great place to enjoy alongside alcohol, corkage is also available, so if you want to bring a special bottle, it's worth asking about corkage.

I also saw families dining together, and since a baby chair is provided, it looked comfortable for families visiting with kids too. Being located inside Urban Bricks with easy parking made accessibility even better.

If you're looking for a Changwon Urban Bricks restaurant where you can enjoy both delicious chicken skewers and charcoal grilling, Yakitori Gong is worth a visit. From carefully prepared chicken skewers grilled over binjangtan charcoal to a spicy, refreshing chicken hot pot, the menu is varied enough to cover anything from a simple drinking session to a hearty dinner.
