I went to Gaeumjeong market and honestly there are so many places to eat! I walked one full loop of the market and there were so many bars and restaurants with lines out the door!! While looking for good places to eat at Gaeumjeong market in Changwon, I visited the newly opened Hanpanjip, and sure enough, there was a wait.

As soon as our name was called during the wait, we headed inside! After waiting that long, we were so excited.

I saw non-alcoholic beer on the menu and ordered it, but they were out, so I got a canned cola instead!

The hanpan small platter at this Gaeumjeong market spot in Changwon is the signature assorted dish, made up of minari, aged flower pork belly, flower pork neck, and pork skin. Since this is a ready-grilled restaurant, everything comes out fully cooked!

The sauces and side dishes included in the basic table setting were tidy and delicious, and the fully grilled pork was so good that even though we were full, it disappeared in no time!! The aged flower pork belly was genuinely amazing.

Under the minari there's also baek-kimchi (white kimchi) and bean sprouts, and wrapping the grilled meat with those is out-of-this-world good! The meat grilled fully over charcoal, plus the freshness of the minari, made everything so good! The quality of the meat was excellent...❣️ There's clearly a reason this place is so busy.

Meat grilled by the staff: how long is the wait?

They say they strictly select domestic 1+ grade female pork, age it for over 240 hours using low-temperature wet aging, then grill it to perfection over charcoal at around 1,000 degrees. So of course it can't be anything but delicious! Even though it's meat, the texture was tender and the flavor was rich and savory.

A staff member skilled in grilling cooks it fresh every day, so you can enjoy a consistent taste no matter when you visit — that's a huge advantage! Since it comes out fully grilled rather than just seared once, you can eat it right away without waiting after it arrives! If all the tables are full, there's a set grilling time, so you might have to wait a little, haha.

Who is Hanpanjip Changwon Gaeum Branch best for?

For me, when I grill the meat myself the taste always turns out oddly different... so I've decided I should really just go to places where they grill it for you! Haha. Every dish was delicious and the atmosphere is great, so it's good for couples on a date, group gatherings, and family dinners alike!

For families with kids, they even provide children's food for free, which makes for an even more comfortable meal!!
