Korean BBQ near Dongtan Central Park: pork belly at Gogigaondang
In short
Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Bansong-dong, Dongtan, Hwaseong, where staff grill grade-1 sow pork belly on a large cauldron lid at your table. After browsing the flea market at Dongtan Central Park, the writer ordered two servings of raw pork belly with gyeranjjim (steamed egg), then finished with musaengchae fried rice (seasoned radish salad fried rice) topped with cheese, refilling banchan and wrap vegetables at the self-serve bar. Since the staff grill and cut everything, Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch is an easy pick for a group meal.

That day there was a flea market and performances at Dongtan Central Park, plus lots for families to do. After looking around, we headed off to eat meat~

Parking and the room at Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch
There are a few parking spots in front of Gogigaondang. We parked nearby.
The interior is clean and cozy, with wide spacing between tables that made dining comfortable. They were also handing out a coupon for a free bottle of cheongmoju wine for groups of four or more. A great spot for gatherings.

Menu and what we ordered
The menu at Gogigaondang includes raw pork belly, raw special pork neck, skirt meat, pork jowl, and Korean beef tartare. The grade-1 sow pork is said to be aged for about 10 days before serving. The side dishes are homemade too, grown directly at Ondang Farm. There's a good variety of drinks as well. We ordered two servings of pork belly and egg custard, then added cheese fried rice later.

A big cauldron lid arrived along with a variety of vegetables, side dishes, and sauces. You can refill as much as you like at the self-serve bar~ We love lettuce wraps, so we grabbed a ton of lettuce haha.

Pork belly for two on the cauldron lid, grilled by the staff
Two servings of raw pork belly. The meat had a beautiful color, and it came with onion and king oyster mushrooms.
The staff oiled the cauldron lid first, then grilled everything from the meat to the vegetables themselves, so you can just sit back and eat.

Kimchi, green onion kimchi, bracken fern, seasoned bean sprouts, tofu, garlic, onion, mushrooms — they packed the cauldron lid full in the pork fat.

The meat turning golden brown. The chewy skin on pork belly is the best part, and that texture was totally on point here haha.

Side order: gyeranjjim (steamed egg)
The egg custard (gyeranjjim) we ordered as a side puffed up nicely above the rim of its stone pot. It was great to scoop up alongside the meat.

They cut up the meat, kimchi, and mushrooms into easy bite-sized pieces — done!

Look at that gorgeous meat. Time to dig in~

Dips and sides: salt, wasabi, myeongi namul and myeoljeot
First bite, of course, dipped in salt with a bit of wasabi. The meat itself is so good it's tasty even plain.

We also wrapped up plenty of vegetables into lettuce wraps.

There's also myeong-i namul (mountain garlic leaves) and myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), so you can enjoy the meat in different ways.

We also got to eat tofu kimchi haha. It's grilled in the pork fat so it's even tastier, and the kimchi is domestically made, homemade kimchi that's seriously good!! It's kimchi you keep picking at as much as the meat itself.
Finishing with cheese-topped musaengchae fried rice
After finishing the meat, time to fill up on carbs. We added a cheese topping to the radish kimchi fried rice. They torched the cheese topping right in front of us.

Hahaha they shaped it into a face.
There was a lot of shredded radish mixed in, so it had a nice crunchy texture, and it was savory and delicious with all that melted cheese. We ate until we were completely stuffed!!
