Paju ssambap restaurant with smoky pork and free ice cream: Simhaksan
In short
Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap is a ssambap (wrap-rice) and Korean set-meal restaurant about 5 minutes by car from Lotte Premium Outlet Paju in Gyeonggi. Before shopping, the writer and her husband ordered the deuljeongsik set for two at 20,000 won per person and ate smoky pork stir-fry and squid stir-fry, gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste) with stone-pot rice, and unlimited wrap greens from the self-serve bar, then helped themselves to brewed coffee and ice cream. Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap is a good pick when you want a tidy, generous Korean spread before or after a day at the Paju outlet.

My husband and I went to the Paju outlet again for the first time in a while — and you know shopping goes better on a full stomach haha.
Before shopping, we stopped at a really delicious place to eat :) Even though it was a weekday lunch, the parking lot was packed and I was honestly surprised — that place was Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap (심학산 들꽃쌈밥)! Once I actually tried the food, I totally understood why so many people come here. Here's our honest review, written while we were still going 'wow' over every bite!

Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap sits about 5 minutes by car from Lotte Premium Outlet Paju, so it's a great stop on the way to or from shopping! The parking area in front of the restaurant was spacious too, so driving over felt totally effortless — almost like a little drive of its own :)

Walking in, I spotted signed autographs from celebrities on the wall haha. Seeing those made me even more excited for the food, hehe.
Ordering the deuljeongsik set for two by table QR code

We ordered the restaurant's signature deuljeongsik set (₩20,000 per person) for two.🤓

The menu is simple to order — you just scan the QR code attached to the table :)

Sweet pumpkin porridge to start the meal
A sweet, warm sweet pumpkin porridge to ease the stomach before the meal! Right after we sat down and ordered, they brought over this beautifully golden-yellow porridge first. One spoonful in, and it wasn't overly sweet, just soft and rich — perfect for warming up the stomach before the main dishes. I love sweet pumpkin porridge... so I ended up eating my husband's share too, hoho.
Wrap greens self-serve bar and refillable side dishes

Fresh vegetables are the most important thing at a ssambap restaurant! Here, it's all set up as a self-serve bar. And since you can refill the side dishes whenever they run low, the whole meal felt like a genuinely healthy one. I thought it would even be a great place to bring my parents 👍
What comes with the deuljeongsik spread at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap

The side dishes included braised eggplant, seasoned zucchini, pickled peppers, seasoned laver flakes, seasoned gungchae (aster greens), and kimchi — dishes that are hard to make easily at home, so I really loved having them!
Smoky pork stir-fry and squid stir-fry

As soon as the dishes arrived, a delicious smoky aroma drifted up — and what completely won over both my husband and me was this pork stir-fry! The sauce clung to the meat perfectly instead of sliding off, and there was this subtle smoky char to it — one bite and I instantly understood why the huge restaurant was packed on a weekday afternoon.

On top of that, there was savory gangdoenjang, bubbling doenjang stew, and freshly steamed stone-pot rice still puffing with steam — it made for a completely satisfying, hearty meal before shopping.

Such a genuinely delicious meal…🤤

After finishing the rice, we wrapped things up with some savory nurungji (scorched-rice tea)!
Free coffee and ice cream corner after the meal

After finishing a satisfying meal and heading out, I noticed the dessert corner had both freshly brewed coffee and sweet ice cream ready to go! After the spicy, salty pork stir-fry, finishing with a cool, sweet bite of ice cream cleaned my palate perfectly and left me so satisfied. With a good meal and dessert taken care of, we headed off to the Paju outlet with light footsteps. Hehe.

If you want to fill up on a neat, hearty Korean meal before shopping at the Paju outlet, definitely stop by Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap. I recommend it with full confidence! 😉
