Gimpo café with laptop outlet seats and milk sticks: The Nillai

Gimpo has so many large cafés that there's real pleasure in picking which one to visit. I'd been to the Nillai Gimpo branch before and liked the vibe, so I went to check out The Nillai, the bigger branch in Yangchon. As you'd expect from a Gimpo large café, the parking area was spacious, and since it's run by a chef with a background at the 63 Building, they serve a full brunch lineup — pizza, pasta, salad, and more.

Where The Nillai is, plus parking and the building

The Nillai, a large café in Gimpo, sits on the G floor at 80 Yangchonyeok-gil, Yangchon-eup, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and there's a large dedicated parking lot right in front where you can park for free without any hassle. It's open from 10:00 to 20:00 (until 21:00 on weekends), with a break time from 15:30 to 16:30.

The building is seriously huge.

Since The Nillai is on the G floor, you can take the elevator down or use the stairs. It was only two flights, so I took the stairs.

Laptop seats and power outlets inside The Nillai

Go down the stairs and turn right, and a spacious café interior opens up. One entire wall is floor-to-ceiling window, which gave a great sense of openness. There were plenty of comfortable sofa seats overall, and the aisles were wide enough to move around without any crowding.

The Nillai also had a lot of outlet seats, making it a good place to bring a laptop or come work alone.

What is Nillai Garden, the no-kids space, like?

The Nillai is split into two spaces, and one is called Nillai Garden. This space is a no-kids zone — children under 13 aren't allowed in. Nillai Garden had a soft, dim lighting and a calm, quiet mood.

One wall was decorated with a mini pond, and there were parasol tables too, giving it a resort-like feel. In front of the fully glass wall, the pond makes a great photo spot. It's a Gimpo large café where each space has a different mood to enjoy.

The restrooms were separate for men and women, with plenty of stalls, and they were clean. A diaper-changing station was also available.

The Nillai menu and how to order

The ordering area was also laid out spaciously.

There was a large standing sign advertising that it's run by a 63 Building chef, and you order through a kiosk.

They were running a Naver receipt review event where writing a photo review gets you a free cold brew.

The Nillai sells brunch as well as bakery items.

Croissants, chestnut bread, cookies, Basque cheesecake, and bottled drinks are also sold.

Media Art Zone and care-kids zone at The Nillai

There's another special space at The Nillai called the media art zone, in the Gimpo large café. The media art zone is meant for quiet viewing. Since it's a care-kids zone, a sign asks visitors to use the main hall if they want to chat while watching.

The media art showed different mood videos depending on the time, and in the dark space you could focus purely on watching the art — a good spot to clear your head.

The Nillai also sells its own merchandise, so I browsed while waiting for food.

There were plenty of baby chairs available, and the self-service bar was clean too. Bowls, forks, knives, and a microwave were all neatly set up.

Rosé shrimp pasta, 19,900 won

This is a shrimp pasta topped with butter-toasted bread, arugula, and a generous amount of cheese. True to its name, there were three big, plump shrimp in it. The arugula was fresh and crisp, and the sauce was as generous as a soup, great for dipping bread into. It leaned more toward a cream pasta than a true rosé, which felt like it would be fine even for kids to eat.

Milk stick, croissant and coffee

The milk roll was packed with cream and had a chewy texture. The croissant was lightly warmed before eating, with a moderate buttery aroma and nuttiness that went well with coffee. The coffee itself was clean with no bitterness.

Is The Nillai in Gimpo worth a visit?

This was a good Gimpo large café for enjoying brunch and bakery items together, and having its own parking lot made parking easy and convenient. With varied photo zones like the media art and the pond, it's worth a visit when you're looking for an unusual café with real photo spots.
