Incheon café ice cream latte: vanilla vs hojicha at Wunder Coffee Bar

Wunder Coffee Bar kept popping up on my Instagram lately. I'd pass by it every time I went to Songhyeona and kept telling myself I'd try it someday — so this time, while I was already at Songhyeona, I finally stopped in for coffee.

Where is Wunder Coffee Bar inside the Songdo outlet?

It's on the basement 1 floor, over by the food court. More precisely, it sits right in front of the supermarket and the wine shop, so it wasn't hard to find at all. It's a solid spot for a coffee after eating or grocery shopping downstairs at Songhyeona.

I usually love coffee with ice cream on top, so ever since I saw Wunder Coffee Bar Songdo on Instagram, I'd been curious about the ice cream latte.

So this time I ordered the ice cream latte without a second thought, haha.

Two ice cream lattes: one vanilla, one hojicha

My husband went with vanilla ice cream, and I picked hojicha. Just visually, they were already adorable.

There's a scoop of ice cream sitting right on top of the coffee — a combo that can't really go wrong just by looking at it, haha. And once I tasted it, both were genuinely delicious.

The vanilla ice cream my husband picked had a really rich, sweet milky flavor. It wasn't just a strong vanilla scent — it was a soft, dense ice cream taste that was tasty even eaten completely on its own.

I went with hojicha, and that turned out to be my kind of thing too.

It was a bit less sweet than the vanilla, with hojicha's signature bittersweet, nutty flavor coming through — and honestly, I liked this one even better. It was already tasty before mixing it into the coffee, so I kept spooning up little bites of it as I went, haha.

How does the taste change once the ice cream is stirred into the coffee?

Then, once I'd eaten about half, I properly stirred the ice cream into the coffee... and oh, this was actually delicious.

As the ice cream melts and blends with the coffee, it turns into a soft, sweet ice cream latte, with hojicha's bittersweet edge layered on top — it was so good. If you're already into ice cream lattes, you'll probably love this one.

Personally, I tend to get a little sick of drinks that are too sweet if I keep drinking them, but the hojicha ice cream had just enough bitterness that it never felt heavy all the way to the last sip. My husband had the vanilla, and that was rich and sweet in its own way too. It was interesting how much the flavor changes with the same ice cream latte format, just by swapping the ice cream flavor.

A coffee break at the Songdo outlet: was Wunder Coffee Bar worth it?

Honestly, cafés that show up a lot on social media and Instagram these days sometimes turn out more ordinary than you'd expect after building it up in your head. So I went in a little curious about Wunder Coffee Bar but without high expectations — and it turned out better than I thought, haha. I especially liked that the ice cream wasn't just a topping sitting there for show; the flavor really changed once you mixed it into the coffee.

Songhyeona is such a big place that you end up looking for somewhere to grab a coffee mid-shopping, and Wunder Coffee Bar being on basement 1 made it easy to get to. If you're someone who loves ice cream lattes like me, it's worth trying at least once.

Personally, I'd recommend the hojicha ice cream. Vanilla is familiar and delicious in that rich, sweet way, while hojicha's slight bitterness and nuttiness made it more appealing once mixed with the coffee. Of course, my husband said vanilla was better, so this is entirely down to personal taste, haha. If you're going with someone, ordering one of each flavor to share sounds like a good idea.
