Songdo hair salon down perm for men: Juno Hair Crystal Ocean, Incheon

My husband's hair always looks about the same, and he complains he doesn't like it, but he's the type who never actually goes to a salon on his own — so this time I booked it myself and dragged him along haha

He barely does anything with his hair, just roughly dries it and heads out — total styling disaster (?) — so even after a fresh cut, it only looks good on the day he leaves the salon, and by the next day it's back to normal. So this time I looked for a designer who's good with men's hair and ended up at Juno Hair Songdo Crystal Ocean.

Location and parking at Juno Hair Songdo Crystal Ocean

Juno Hair Songdo Crystal Ocean is inside the Songdo Crystal Ocean Jai commercial complex, so it wasn't hard to find, and there's a building parking lot, which made driving there easy. I booked with designer Junbo. I saw reviews saying he's great with men's hair, and it turned out to be the right call to trust him with my husband's.

What's the salon atmosphere like?

I was a little surprised by how pretty the interior of Juno Hair Songdo Crystal Ocean is. Salons can sometimes feel a bit dim or cramped, but this one had a nice view and great natural light, so the whole space felt bright and lovely.

A men's cut consultation that started with head shape and face shape

My husband's the type who just says "do whatever" haha, but designer Junbo carefully checked his hair condition first.

He asked what kind of style my husband usually wears, how much he actually styles it, and recommended something that would suit him. He wasn't just pushing whatever's trendy — he was reading the head shape and face shape before recommending, which made me trust him.

How did the cut go?

He was really thorough with the cut. I've watched my husband get his hair cut plenty of times, and it's rare to see someone pay this much attention to a men's cut.

It wasn't just a quick length trim — he checked the overall condition of the hair and refined it piece by piece, which I really liked.

Perm two days after coloring — an extra heat treatment when the curl didn't take

We did the perm and down perm together. But it turned out my husband had colored his own hair two days before coming to the salon...hahaha. Why didn't you say anything?!... I was so flustered listening to that next to him haha

From a perming standpoint, freshly colored hair isn't ideal, and sure enough, when the perm was actually done, the curl didn't come out as well as expected. So designer Junbo didn't just let it go — he checked the condition again and did one more round of heat treatment. I was worried the hair might get damaged since it had only been colored two days earlier, but seeing him carefully monitor the condition as he worked actually put me at ease.

How did the down perm turn out?

In the end the curl came out better than expected and the down perm looked really clean — I was very satisfied.

My husband tends to have puffy sides because of his hair density and texture, but after the down perm the overall shape looked way neater. He's genuinely terrible at styling his own hair haha, so designer Junbo walked him through exactly how to do it himself.

How to dry it, which direction to pull it, how to style it — he explained it all at my husband's level, and my husband actually listened closely.

I wasn't sure he'd actually be able to follow it, but once we got home he said he'd try doing it the way he was shown. Most of all, after the appointment my husband said, "I actually like my hair this time," and hearing that made me even happier than getting my own hair done. Usually he comes back from the salon with no reaction at all, and within a few days he's complaining again — so hearing him say he liked it this time made me really proud.

Who would this suit?

If you're like my husband — someone who can't really style their own hair or doesn't know what style would suit them — I think it'd be worth getting a consultation at Juno Hair Songdo Crystal Ocean. Cuts matter so much for men's hair especially, and he was so careful with the cut and tied it all together well with the perm and down perm.

I'm also thinking of bringing our son along next time. Watching how he handled my husband's hair, I have a feeling he'd be great with a kid's hair too haha
