Songdo sushi restaurant with one-person tray sets: Sushi Doku

In short

Sushi Doku The Songdo is a sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Arriving at the 11am opening, the writer ordered the best-selling premium sushi special set (myeongpum sushi teuk-jeongsik), served as a one-person tray with 10 pieces of sushi plus steamed egg, salad, mini udon, karaage and fried shrimp. Because everyone gets their own tray, Sushi Doku The Songdo works well for a Songdo lunch meet-up or a light team dinner.

One-person tray of the myeongpum sushi teuk-jeongsik at Sushi Doku The Songdo

This time it's my review of Sushi Doku Songdo branch. I was trying to figure out what to eat for lunch and that day I really wanted sushi. Whenever I get a sushi craving, this is the place I go to.

Sushi Doku The Songdo opening time and how long you wait

Sushi Doku The Songdo opens at 11am, and this time too I went at lunchtime right when it opened. Since it's a popular sushi spot in Songdo, there's a wait pretty much every time I go. You can also join the waitlist through Catchtable.

Once again I visited at lunchtime and had myself a proper sushi feast.

What is on the menu at Sushi Doku The Songdo?

Sushi Doku The Songdo has dine-in sushi set menus, takeout packages, and a kids' set that kids can enjoy too.

The dining room, and why Sushi Doku works for a Songdo team lunch

The restaurant overall has a clean feel.

Clean, tidy interior of Sushi Doku The Songdo

The tables aren't cramped and everything feels tidy, so it's a nice spot for a quiet, comfortable lunch.

Well-spaced table seating at Sushi Doku The Songdo

The menu at Sushi Doku The Songdo comes as a one-person tray, so I'd recommend it as a Songdo group-meal option. Especially when there are several people eating together, everyone can order their own set and eat neatly, which makes it a good spot for a light get-together or a lunch meeting.

You can order through the tablet at each table. If you leave a receipt review, they give you an extra piece of premium sushi. Everyone should try it!

What comes in the premium sushi special set

What I ordered that day was Sushi Doku's best-selling item, the myeongpum sushi teuk-jeongsik (premium sushi special set), an Incheon Songdo favorite.

The set menu comes out all at once on a single one-person tray, everything from sushi to side dishes.

You get a total of 10 pieces of sushi, plus a varied lineup of steamed egg, salad, mini udon, karaage, and fried shrimp.

A filling lunch: steamed egg, mini udon and fried shrimp

Beyond the sushi, every other item in the set was delicious too.

While eating the sushi I mixed in some steamed egg, and had bites of the mini udon in between.

Mini udon included in the set

The fried food came as both karaage and fried shrimp, so having a variety was nice — and having udon, fried food, and salad alongside the sushi rather than just sushi alone made it a much more filling lunch.

How to use the soy sauce brush

Sushi Doku The Songdo, a favorite Songdo spot, gives you a brush along with your chopsticks.

Soy sauce brush provided along with chopsticks

You use the brush to paint soy sauce onto the neta (sushi topping). Compared to just dipping the sushi in soy sauce, this way the rice is less likely to fall apart and you can control the seasoning more precisely, making it taste even better.

How thick is the fish, and how is the karaage?

The neta overall was fresh, and the thickness was just right, so there was a nice bite to it.

Sometimes it's a bit disappointing when the fish is sliced too thin on sushi, but here it had just the right thickness, which made it even better.

The karaage was crispy outside and juicy inside, so it was easy to pick up a piece here and there in between bites of sushi.

Plum tea to finish, plus takeout and delivery

A Yeonsu-gu favorite for Japanese food, a Songdo sushi spot — Sushi Doku Songdo branch.

Warm plum tea served after the meal

When you finish eating and head out, you can have a cup of warm plum tea. They say a cup of plum tea after a meal helps with digestion.

You can also enjoy their good sushi at home through takeout or delivery.
