Is it really this hard to find a place open on the weekend in Yeouido?
Did you know that outside of the restaurants in the Hyundai Seoul or the IFC Mall, a lot of Yeouido places just don't open on weekends? I only found this out this time.... I guess it's because so many office workers are around here — plenty of places close on weekends instead of weekdays ㅠㅠ Hyundai Seoul and IFC Mall were absolutely packed, so while looking for somewhere else I found a great gyukatsu spot!! Let me introduce it.
Izawa Yeouido Direct Store — location, hours, parking
- 📍Location: 203, 204 Izawa, 42 Yeouinaru-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul
- 🕚Hours: Daily 11:00-21:00 (break time 15:00-17:00, last order 20:30)
- 🅿️Parking: Free for 1 hour at the ground-level lot on the building's 1st floor (basement parking is paid!!!)
- 📖Menu: Gyukatsu set ₩18,000, Steki set ₩18,000

It's on the 2nd floor of the building right in front of Yeouido Station Exit 5, so it was super accessible when I visited Yeouido by public transit.

I visited on a Sunday evening, but it seems like a popular spot with waits on weekdays 😯😯

Apparently it's even a restaurant certified by Lim Young-woong. If you're looking for a Lim Young-woong-approved restaurant in Yeouido, check this place out ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

How many seats does it have?
The place wasn't huge — several 2-person tables and maybe 2-3 4-person tables. When I visited in the evening there was exactly one seat left and I got lucky enough to sit right down!! Lucky 🧡
Menu and prices
There are two signature menu items.
- Gyukatsu set ₩18,000 (double ₩33,000)
- Steki set ₩18,000
- Gyukatsu for two + drinks set ₩36,500
- Rice bowls — Steki-don ₩18,000, Gyu-don ₩12,000, Dontoro-don (pork jowl bowl) ₩13,500
- Ramen — Karai ramen ₩12,000, Basil ramen ₩12,000
That's about it!! If you always want to add a drink, ordering the gyukatsu-for-two set might be the better move 😊

Or you can get a drink through the Naver receipt review event!! There's also a coupon on Naver Place for a mini curry if you write a review, so keep that in mind :)

There's Lim Young-woong energy everywhere... I genuinely can't tell if the owner's a fan of his, or he's a fan of Izawa.... Fans of his, someone tell me — is this place actually famous as a Lim Young-woong spot...?

There's salt on the table too, so if you like your pork cutlet with salt + wasabi, you're all set haha

The grill and solid fuel get swapped via tableside ordering
They set the grill down first, and there's a call-staff option on the tableside ordering system for swapping the solid fuel or the grill plate, so it was easy to keep using the grill while eating. I was busy chatting with my friend, so I think I asked for the fuel to be swapped like twice...haha

What comes with the gyukatsu set?
The gyukatsu arrives looking insanely good. Order the gyukatsu set and you get rice and soup too, so it's a filling meal!! I especially liked that the rice wasn't a tiny ice-cream-scoop portion haha

You get two sauces and two side dishes, and the side dish next to the diced radish kimchi paired really well with the gyukatsu!! It looked like minced kimchi, and it was a perfect match.

Sirloin gyukatsu stayed tender even grilled a long time
Gyukatsu comes out fried only on the outside, so the inside is still raw — you grill it on the tabletop plate to whatever doneness you like. I wasn't sure how long to cook it so I grilled it pretty long, but it was still completely tender and easy to eat 😊 Must be extra tender because it's sirloin 🤤
Honestly, I had gyukatsu at a place near my school ages ago that was so bad I basically gave up on gyukatsu after that, but this place had good quality meat and it was delicious!!! And you can pile on the wasabi too!!! Because it's sirloin, even a lot of wasabi wasn't too spicy!
Who should you go with?
It also seems great for solo dining in Yeouido, so I'd totally recommend it — if you're looking for a spot popular with Yeouido office workers or a date spot in Yeouido, give this place a try!!
