Yogurt-aged tonkatsu in Geomdan, Incheon: HOKATSU
In short
HOKATSU is a tonkatsu restaurant in Geomdan, Incheon, serving pork cutlets aged with house-made yogurt. I visited with my son after his military discharge and loved the Popular Three-Cutlet Platter, along with the sweet-tangy yogurt served before the meal. Verdict: arrive at opening time to avoid the line.

A Geomdan tonkatsu favorite I visited with my son after his discharge
Not long ago, I went on a special food date with my son after he safely completed his military service and was discharged. The one thing he had wanted most after getting out was a proper tonkatsu (Japanese-style breaded pork cutlet). He said it was a famous place among his friends where people line up, and that he absolutely wanted to go, so I had high expectations too.

The place we visited was HOKATSU in Geomdan. My son kept emphasizing that we would definitely have to line up here, so we got moving a little early. We arrived just after the 11 a.m. opening time and, thankfully, walked right in without waiting. It was such an excellent choice! As soon as we sat down and ordered, customers kept streaming in, and before long a long line had formed outside. It really was one of Geomdan's talked-about restaurants.

HOKATSU parking entrance and restaurant atmosphere
First, here is one important parking tip for anyone arriving by car. HOKATSU is on the first floor of the Megabox building. If you follow your navigation app exactly, though, the parking entrance can be a little confusing to find. Don't panic—ignore the navigation directions and make a wide turn around to the back of the building, where you will find the parking entrance. Keep this in mind and you should be able to visit comfortably without a parking issue.
As I entered the restaurant, one thing immediately caught my eye: a sticker saying it had been selected for the 2026 Blue Ribbon Survey! The Blue Ribbon is considered a mark of a good restaurant, so my confidence rose before I even ate. The interior was compact but warm, making it a comfortable place for a meal.

House-made yogurt dry-aged cutlets
Once we sat down and looked at the menu, it introduced HOKATSU's special secret. They say they use a house-made yogurt dry-aging method developed here for the first time in Korea. Pork cutlet aged with house-made yogurt—I could not even imagine what it would taste like, so I was very curious. They say this method lets you enjoy the most tender cutlet in the world. And it is a tonkatsu specialty restaurant that has been loved in Geomdan for 10 years, which made its experience seem truly impressive.
After wondering what to order, we chose the Popular Three-Cutlet Platter, said to be the most popular item. It was a great choice because we could try several kinds of tonkatsu at once.
While we waited for the food, the owner first brought us house-made yogurt in adorable little cups. But this yogurt was really something! It was sweet and tangy, light enough to enjoy before the meal, and not artificially sweet—it had honey in it, with a truly wholesome, clean flavor.
Mom, this is seriously delicious~
My son said this and finished it in no time. I later learned that this yogurt is also used to age the pork cutlets, and then I understood why it tasted so good.

Just how tender was the Popular Three-Cutlet Platter?
Finally, our Popular Three-Cutlet Platter arrived! It looked different right from the start. The thick meat and visibly crisp breading immediately caught my eye.
I took a bite first, and it honestly surprised me. Just as the owner had explained, the meat was unbelievably tender and moist! The outside was crisp while the inside was full of juices, and every bite felt like happiness spreading through my mouth. I am especially sensitive to any porky smell, but HOKATSU's tonkatsu had none at all, which I loved. It was the very definition of a clean, mild flavor.
Seeing how pleased I was, my son looked very proud that he had recommended the restaurant.

Wow, this is really good! The best tonkatsu of my life! Mom, it's good, right?
My son kept saying things like this as he ate so happily. Seeing my recently discharged son enjoying his meal made me happy too.

Visit at opening time to avoid the wait
It was such a satisfying meal in every way that I could understand at once why it had been selected for the Blue Ribbon. If you are looking for delicious tonkatsu with a tender, moist texture, I highly recommend HOKATSU, a Geomdan New Town favorite! Since it is a restaurant people line up for, it would be best to arrive a little early or avoid peak hours.
