Gongdeok café on the way to Hongdae: 4 madeleines, Fluffy Bake Shop

In short

Fluffy Bake Shop is a baked-goods dessert shop right in front of Exit 2 of Gongdeok Station in Mapo, Seoul. On a first visit while heading to Hongdae, the writer boxed up lemon, yellow cheese, raspberry and Nutella madeleines, two gamtae (sea kelp) financiers and a salt bread, with madeleines priced from 3,200 to 3,800 won. The gamtae financier, featured on the TV show Amazing Saturday, matched its seaweed aroma with rich butter so well that the writer wanted to go back the next day.

On my way to Hongdae, I stopped by a dessert café near Gongdeok Station that I'd had on my list for a while — a financier place with a reputation for high repeat visits. That's Fluffy Bake Shop, right in Gongdeok 💗

How to reach Fluffy Bake Shop from Gongdeok Station Exit 2

Fluffy Bake Shop was easy to find — just walk straight from Exit 2 of Gongdeok Station. The clean white exterior gave it a really tidy look, and the dessert box visible from outside was packed with cute-looking baked goods, so I just went straight in haha.

Seats and atmosphere inside Fluffy Bake Shop

Inside, it's a compact space, but there were about 6 seats set up for a quick eat-in. Not big, but it felt like a well-put-together dessert shop!

Here and there were cute figurines that clearly reflected the owner's personal taste, so it was fun to look around too ( ⸝⸝•ᴗ•⸝⸝ )੭˒˒. I heard they use Lescure AOP butter, known as one of the top three luxury butters from France. They're also running a Naver review event, so if you visit, it might be worth joining!

Fluffy Bake Shop menu: are there drinks too?

Drink menu board listing coffee and ades

Fluffy Bake Shop sells coffee alongside its desserts. The coffee menu was fairly varied, and they even had ades and teas, so it seemed like a great spot to enjoy a drink with dessert. Takeout drinks get a ₩1,000 discount!

The variety of desserts was impressive too — the tempting rows of baked goods greeted me and I could barely think straight,, 🤣🤣

Madeleines, financiers, canelés, tarts, salt bread — it was fun picking one of each.

The especially famous items are the gamtae (sea moss) financier featured on the show Amazing Saturday, and the canelé ✨ The best-sellers were marked separately above the items, which was really helpful since it was my first visit and I wasn't sure what to pick. The Dubai egg tart looked incredible too, and I seriously debated buying one (lol).

What 6 pastries cost on a first visit

  • Lemon madeleine (₩3,200)
  • Blue cheese madeleine (₩3,500)
  • Raspberry madeleine (₩3,800)
  • Nutella madeleine (₩3,700)
  • Gamtae financier (₩3,600)
  • Salt bread (₩3,600)

I picked a bit of everything. The gamtae financier really called out to me, so I grabbed two 🫶

How to store the pastries and gift box options

Before packing, they gave detailed storage instructions, which I appreciated — the pastries must be frozen if you're not eating them the same day!

Gift boxes for 4-piece and 6-piece sets

They also have 4-piece and 6-piece gift box packages, which seemed great for picking several items to give as a present.

On top of that, I heard the shop also donates to neighbors in need, which made me like it even more. What a wonderful owner,,, 👏

Packaging must take quite a bit of work when you ask for it, but they wrap each item carefully 👍 Off we go, home~

Taste test: gamtae financier, salt bread and raspberry madeleine

Cross-section of the gamtae financier

Everyone needs to try this gamtae financier… it was seriously a new world ㅠㅠㅠ I never expected the distinct aroma of gamtae to pair so well with a financier, but it was so much better than I imagined that I was genuinely startled. I immediately wanted to go back and buy more the next day, haha. There's clearly a reason it's famous as the dessert that appeared on Amazing Saturday.

Salt bread from Fluffy Bake Shop

The butter cave in the salt bread was insane.. the chewy texture really came through, making it good for a plain, savory bite.

A single raspberry madeleine

The raspberry madeleine was so refreshing! You could bite into actual raspberry flesh inside, giving it a proper sweet-and-tart flavor. The kind of taste that makes you smile naturally with the first bite haha. Recommended!
