Suwon black tea café with an hourglass teapot set: peach cake at Diaz

I visited Diaz Cake Boutique, a café near Suwon City Hall Station where you can enjoy cake and tea together.

The vibe here is a bit more classic tea-room than a typical café, so it was great for relaxing over dessert. 🤍

Diaz Cake Boutique's interior is bigger than it looks from outside. There's a long row of high-backed sofa seats, and the tables aren't cramped together, so it was comfortable to sit and enjoy dessert.

There's a big table further inside, and sunlight comes through the windows, giving the whole space a bright, relaxed feel. What especially caught my eye was a large display cabinet on one side.

It was lined with all kinds of teacups, teapots, and colorful black tea tins, so it was fun just to browse.

The lighting and furniture all matched really well, so if you like a tea-room feel among Suwon City Hall Station cafés, this place should suit your taste.

🍰 The cake showcase at Diaz Cake Boutique

Walking into Diaz Cake Boutique, you'll see the cake showcase, and the variety was more than I expected.

There's everything from fruit-topped cakes to chocolate cake and cream cake, and both slices and whole cakes are on display. The fruit cakes look especially pretty, so if you're hunting for Suwon dessert or cake spots, there's a fun amount to choose from.

We ordered two Americanos, Earl Grey black tea, and peach cream cake ☕️🫖🍑

🍑 Peach cream cake with big chunks of real peach

The cake we picked that day was the peach cream cake! There's a big piece of peach on top, and if you look at the cross-section, there's peach flesh tucked between the layers too.

Between the soft layers there's plenty of whipped cream, and biting into peach here and there made it delicious.

Instead of a cake that's all cream, the sweet, refreshing peach flavor cutting through it made it feel lighter than expected. Especially since the peach wasn't diced small but came in fairly big chunks, peach lovers should be satisfied. 🍑💛

It looked pretty too, so it's a menu worth trying when you're looking for a cake spot near Suwon City Hall Station.

☕️ Americano that paired well with the cake

We ordered two Americanos. A bite of sweet peach cream cake, then a sip of cold Americano — hard to go wrong with that combo haha. Since the cake was sweet, the Americano cut through it nicely and paired well.

🫖 Earl Grey served with a floral teapot and hourglass

What I really liked about Café Diaz was the black tea. We ordered Earl Grey, and as you can see in the photo, a floral teapot and teacup set come out together.

The teaware, sky blue with a floral pattern, was so pretty. 💙🌸 On the tray, along with the teapot and teacup, there's also a tea strainer and even an hourglass.

You watch the hourglass while the tea steeps, then pour and drink it warm — this whole setup made it feel like a much more proper experience than the usual tea-bag black tea at a regular café. The fragrant Earl Grey aroma was lovely, and paired with the sweet peach cream cake, the sweet-dessert-and-black-tea combo worked well.
